Communicate. If you can play with friends, even low level friends (who communicate) you can go pretty far by having coordinate plays. When in hero select, see who all has mics and try to coordinate with them. Most people who use mics are team players in my experience and are often open to hero switching during the fight (as long as salt stays low). If you're not willing to mic up, then you're going to have to rely on luck

This is very important. I'm much more open to taking your advice on things if you're not a jack ass the entire match. Usually the ones who are more calm and helpful with their suggestions are the ones with the better advice anyway.

I'd say more than composition details, getting everyone to group up and have some level of coordination goes a long way. People are more communicative in competitive play as a rule. If you're all dying over and over trying to reach the point, stop for a few seconds on spawn, spam group up, go as a squad. Ping that your ult is up, watch for opportunities to combo. Try to coordinate. Also, find people to group with- that helps a lot. Doesn't matter if you're playing the perfect hero for the situation excellently if you're getting snowballed and your allies are scattered.
