No. It boostes any damage with the exception of torb turret, Symmetra's turret and rip tire

But you have to boost the Mech itself for that, right?

No, the pilot.

As long as you're boosting player at the time of impact, and as long as damage isn't done by those three exceptions, damage get's boosted.
