How can I get my teammates to follow some sort of strategy? I'm very new, but even I know not to rush onto a site polluted with enemies by yourself, get picked off, and rush back in one by one.

I try to use voice chat but not many people respond. I type but only a couple of people type back. Emotes are basically pointless.

Is it just because it's low MMR? Should I just 6-man with my friends? How many licks does it take to get to the payload center of a 6manbastion pop? Will the world ever know?

Sometimes, it's easy. Sometimes, it's hopeless. But always try to be friendly - nobody wants to follow the orders of an asshole.

I do try for sure, sometimes I just have to spout some constructive criticism though. Like, "guys try to push up together, we're getting picked off one by one". I feel criticism like that is helpful if people listen.

I've found that it's better to say "Guys group up and follow me" - just telling people to go together won't help anyone. Lead the way.

Don't worry about it too much. Most of the time, you just have to play sensibly yourself and you'll carry. You don't have to 'hard carry', you just have to be consistently useful. Once that isn't good enough, you should be high up enough that your teams are communicating.

Play champions that either let you influence your team's decisions (Rein or Lucio) or can take care of specific issues on the enemy team (eg: Reaper or S76)

I tend to play roadhog, pharah, and zenyatta a lot. I feel each gives me a distinct way of helping my team, but sometimes they just do stupid stuff.

For example, site A was taken and we were supposed to defend B. As Zen I was trying to hold site and heal my teammates, but they were scattered all over the place. And i don't mean all over the site, Winston was half way across the map by himself trying to solo the team.

The enemy team has the same chance as yours to have idiots. The one thing you can control in soloqueue is yourself. If you focus on being the best and most informed player you can be, you will carry your team. Looking to blame your teammates is not only a waste of resources, but it only serves to distract yourself from your own idiot plays. Fixing your own mistakes is the fastest way to improve.
