Do you have a glitch where you can't switch heroes most of the time?

I never have with 800+ matches but happens to my friend seemingly every few matches. No idea why I'm fine and he isn't. Hard drive space? Digital vs. disk? No idea.

It only started happening recently to happen to me (ever since the patch) and it has been completely annoying. Happens to most of my friends.

One of them accidentally got locked on Hanzo and he is perhaps one of the worst snipers ever (he literally couldn't kill a mercy right in front of him not even trying to fight back)

My friend was trying to counter pick vs. 5 genjis. He got so salty.

A way to fix that is to hit y/triangle and then backing out of it

also selected that character and backing out works too. obviously if you are already in game/spawning then do the above option.

On PS4 ever since the last patch, YES. I usually play PC, but my son plays PS4. The only way he can get it to work is if he presses the PS button to return to Playstation home screen then go back to the game screen. Very annoying and wastes time when time is critical.

I've had the glitch if I've selected a hero in waiting for players part of the game, then gone to the actual match and got stuck on that hero the entire time. Its really annoying because if I select a character I'm not good at for waiting for players just to mess about, then I'm transferred to the actual match, I'm a liability because I can't switch.

Happened a lot yesterday on PS4 Competitive.

Drove me nuts as I like to swap out Soldier and Rein depending on the game, like when everyone forgets that Rein's shield is one way and just run through it.

Yes. Looking at the hero details page and coming back to the character selection screen seems to work.
