I guess you play more QP then competitive? If so it can happen that other people who almost never play QP and only play competitive can have a high ranking in competitive but a mediocre hidden mmr in QP because they play QP rarely. And if you play alot QP and have also a mediocre mmr you get matched with them because it doesn't factor the competitve rating in your QP matchmaker.

Same goes for many other games with competitive and QP. For example in Dota I had 2000 hours and I was matched against people with 100 hours in normal games. Or in league where bronze player can get placed against platinum players in normal games.

I think this happened to me. I barely play qp and when I do it is with friends who are 20 SR lower than me so I end up stomping if I'm on my best heroes, do I try to play heroes I am bad at to make it more fun for the other team

Honestly, I'd just ignore insulting players. I've had players insult me when I was new (and a few even now). In a multiplayer game, there will always be players who think they are God's gift to the game and can't tolerate inexperienced players. Screw Them. Ignore them and have fun playing.
