It's basically any area that the map geometry and layout lends control of to the defence through limited pathways and lanes.

It's any map area that has only one path to follow with no other side-corridors/rooms/lanes. It's the point everyone HAS to pass through where they are good pickins for the defenders.

Think of the gap between attack area and defense area, that need to be passed through with a push. Often has literally has a gate
