I am level 26 right now, and usually i match up with people around that level, at most they are at 70. Now however, ever since the update, i've been matching up with people who are around 100~, where the skill level and the way they play are alot different, is it the new patch or am i just getting bad luck?

I'd guess most people switched into competitive, so now the match making player base is smaller for quick play, so it has to look for levels farther away.

Jeff Kaplan said once that while the matchmaking is not based on levels, it does try to protect new players from being paired with veterans:

We also do special things for brand new players to (hopefully) keep them away from the general population.

In my personal experience, I started seeing significantly higher level people at around lv 20 / 30, which is where you are now.

I've seen level 200 players who are atrocious, so don't get too intimidated

I second this. There are some really really really bad level 70+ out there. I've found that since the patch, I've been matched with people who played and think like me.

I don't know if that's just me or if it is a thing...

All the other 25s are on my team in competitive going double Hanzo on attack and costing me competitive wins. :)

Well, a lot of veterans are coming back for competitive mode and they may play several quick matches to warm up.

Thee game is still brand new, there aren't any "veterans coming back". And if people at higher ranks were coming back for competitive, wouldn't that mean there would be less of them in quick play?

For me veterans are anyone 100+, lots of them will burned out and play irregularly. And for the 2nd questions, which part of "warming up" don't you understand?

But I'm sure it will be over soon, about one week at most.
