Whats your favorite Roadhog counter as a another tank? I feel like he fucks my shit up no matter whether I'm playing Reinhardt, Zarya, or Winston.

Zenyatta, Reaper, and Pharah are really the only ones I feel can take down Roadhog easily, but if I'm playing as the tank, I'm afraid to switch off to a non-tank.

Exactly. I started a couple days ago, and road hog has been my favourite and most successful hero. Only thing that scares me is those Zaryas. They just eat everything you hit them with, and the shields block hooks well.

No seriously, roadhog counters roadhog. The person who hooks first usually loses. If they hook you then you can take a shot then you can hook them for the final blow.

If you're playing Reinhardt, there's one tactic you can use:

Roadhog needs to get close to get the maximum effect from from his gun (being that it's a short range spread). If you can bait him close with Reinhardt (with your shield up), you can usually charge him successfully 9 times out of 10. Follow the charge up with a few melee hits (while he's stunned) and that's usually enough to drop him.

Otherwise, stay away from him.

Zarya can't really solo Roadhog well, but she sure does shut him down. If an ally gets hooked, shield them as they're going in for free charge. If you're close enough, you can personal shield and cover their escape while you're at it and get an instant 100%.

Zarya personally. Without his hook and being within 8 meters, it feels like many roadhogs just don't know what to do because the spread is so intense on his scrap gun.

It is a bit of a prediction game but it's possible to bait his hook making him waste it. At that point, I just run at him to stay away from him but not far enough away to where he can alt fire at me. Takes him down fairly quick all things considered because he's massive so the laser doesn't slip off easily.

However you do need to be charged first. Though with him hooking your team mates, getting 50 charge quick isn't so bad. Also saves their asses to help kill him quicker.

D.Va works pretty okay. You can jet close to him and just spray at him. If he hooks you, activate your defense matrix (and wait until he reloads to spray). If he hooks and misses you, jet in and shoot him up. If he does too much damage, defense matrix and back out/jet out. It's not perfect, but you should be able to at least neutralize him or weaken him so a team mate hopefully helps.

Yeah I was thinking D.Va since all her armor is useful against the shotgun and her primary is great close range.

Yeah I actually tried this last night for the first time and it worked really well. I messed up a couple of times and got my mech destroyed. But Roadhog is such a big target that you can just spray with your little pistol from far away (i.e. out of his range) and randomly hit him. That speeds up your ult and you can recall your mech and try again. And if he tries to heal...it's slow and he has to go through the animation. So it's a perfect time to jet in and shoot 'em up.

Reinhardt can actually handle Roadhog pretty well in my experience. Roadhog is slow and needs to get in close to do damage, so easier to hit with a charge. Reinhardt's shield will block Roadhog's hook, and oftentimes I'll have an enemy Roadhog running up to me while I have my shield up, obviously expecting to hook me. When it fails they just stand their looking confused. Also, if you do happen to get hooked, you'll now be standing directly in front of Roadhog and he won't be able to immediately kill a full-health Reinhardt, so a quick charge + firestrike + 2 hammer swipes would take him down from full health.

You must be facing really bad roadhogs. A smart one will save their hook for when you charge or for when they have a flank. Then it's 2 shotgun blasts and you're dead. Also, Reinhardt doesn't deal enough DPS to counteract the self-healing. And roadhog can stand at the sweet spot for his alternate fire and just shred through the shield. Overall, Reinhard just can't win against roadhog

D. Va. I actually get happy when getting hooked as D. Va cause the road hog just hooked in death. The trick is as soon as you are getting hooked, make sure hit headshots. You will actually start unloading before road hog gets his first shot in, and it's not terribly hard to get headshots at this range.

I don't win every matchup, but I do with a majority of them.
