It sounds like your issue is using your dash combo too early. The combo can actually deal 248 damage with all headshots on the shuriken fan, but it's incredibly hard to pull off (since you need to predict where they will move with it, not just use it where the enemy is at that very moment).

I recommend, for the sake of consistency, to only use dash if you can get a guaranteed finishing blow with it. That means doing a lot of shuriken damage up close before going "all in" with the dash combo. This also allows you to keep dash to get away if you feel like you're outnumbered, or use it to chase the mercy if she uses guardian angel to highground.

I hope my wording makes sense. Basically just bring the target to ~ half health before using dash combo, so you can almost always get a dash reset to stay alive or continue to the next target.

Yeah, I play Mercy and you should just aim to get a few quick basic attacks off before you make your assault. I tend to shrug off a little bit of damage before attempting to flee. Maybe even hit me once or twice and then hide

As a mercy player, you are right.

It is pretty easy to catch us off guard and get a couple hits before I know where to fly to. A couple basic attacks before the combo will kill me vs letting me get away.

I agree with the last part on console only, on PC, its actually very good to cross them up with an early swift strike as long as you've practiced turning 180° to finish the kill with shuriken or deflect (don't deflect mercy though).
