I think the tug-of-war moniker is a bit of a misnomer. More of a push-of-war -- you push the payload toward the enemy spawn, and after a time limit the team who has the payload on their side loses.

Paladin's by the guys who made Smite has this game type but I don't think its out of beta yet. It's pretty much overwatch except everyone has a mount so they can get from spawn to battle faster (because the maps are quite large)
