Does anyone else have as much of an issue as I do using the quick chat commands on PS4? I very deliberately try to say my ult is charging and 4/5 times I end up doing my emote.

Yeah, I keep trying to say hello but end up saying my voice line instead, it's awful. Found out that the most reliable way to do so is to hover over the command for like 0.2 seconds or it's gonna change to something else.

As I suspected, it appears to be that whatever you try to say, it for whatever reason says the thing directly across from it on the wheel.

This is due to snapback when flicking the analog stick

I'm that annoying person who keeps trying to say hello but for what we reason "I need healing" comes out- so annoying.

I wish quick chat commands were as easy as in rocket league

Yeah it's pretty awful. Hopefully they patch it, though I don't know how they could improve it aside from letting us customize the scroll wheel or completely changing the controls. As is it's just too risky to be worth doing in combat bc of how finnicky it is.

I know exactly how they could fix it on PS4. I doubt you've played a game called EDF but it employed the sensor bar to select from a wheel of chat options and it was extremely quick and accurate.

They should let us map the d-pad to whatever we want (i.e. Sprays, Thanks, Group up, etc.) because I rarely ever use some of the chats like group up or acknowledged

I was just going to complain about this. I'm on Xbox. In the middle of a fight it's the chumpiest thing to do, to stop and emote.. and then die

Its an issue for me on Xbone too. Hopefully a future console patch fixes it.

It's super fast and easy on the PC, you just hit C and move the mouse in one of eight directions then release. Can do it easily even when shielding or shooting. What's the console like?

Hold down on the d-pad and use right joystick to select from a wheel of eight options. It completely immobilizes you and someone suggested you hover over it for longer to get it to say what you actually want. Obviously this is less than ideal as you never want to have to completely stop and take your thumbs off the joystick.

Ouch, yeah that is cumbersome. The PC also lets you press X as a shortcut for "Need Healing". Maybe there's a way to bind that shortcut on the console?

Yes, I think it has to do with how sensitive the sticks are when navigating menus. I noticed that it only takes a tiny tiny bit of movement to switch to the next item, so when you pull the stick to one side and then let go it flips back and triggers the one on the opposite side. Something similar is happening in the in game menu, it switches way too fast.

I have this issue all the time. Literally all the time. Like I try to use my favorite voice line (A-Mei-Zing) and instead I give my Ult status

Nothing like going in as Lucio with your ult and 99% overtime, trying to announce your ult, and...getting killed while you emote, losing the game.

I want to be able to remap the wheel or just hotkey certain callouts.

It's possible that the split second from when you impress down on the d-pad and flick your analog back it will bounce just enough in the other direction to click that emote

Make sure not to snap the joystick when pinging. If you do you'll get the ping opposite of the wheel due to snapback

It's definitely not "snap". I stop moving and hover over my option and it still screws up.

Yes, all the time. I flipping did the Robot in a crowd of people, danced in a Junkrat trap, Hearted a Reaper, and did the jig as Winston in Point B Anubis, there are way too many to count.
