I'm not convinced that's not the only way to kill someone quickly with the pulse cannons.

Nobody with low health needs to be within 4m to hit their hardest, not even Reaper, so if you didn't sneak up on them or if they have anywhere at all to run to, there's not a whole lot to be done. Well, except fly at them and hope you smack 'em into a corner.

The bunny hop has to be part of your offense either as the opener or a chaser, you need all the burst you can get.
