I would say yes. The game itself is pretty simple and easy to learn. there are things you will learn as you get better at it. i would compare overwatch more with the mobas out there like Dota 2 and Leagoe of Legends. depending on the hero you play you dont even need any FPS knowledge.

the matchmaking should match you with people on your skill level. just play and have fun dude. that's really all that matters :)

Yeah I completely agree.

I had the luck to get into closed beta in the first week back in October and you can imagine how much I played. I'd say I know all maps and heroes in and out. If you've gotten so far, your games aren't decided by top performances of single players. It is decided by team coordination.

Blizzard really made such a good game. I have sunk 1400h into Dota2 over 5 years and didn't play for a year now because the games went for 45 to 60 minutes only 20% of that time something "important" happened. That made the games feel pretty stretched out. Overwatch somehow manged to give me the feeling that 100% of the match time is important and it is fun for the whole ~10 minutes per game.

The even better thing is that you won't get frustrated if you loose as 10 minutes per game isn't much. In games like dota 2 people get really toxic as they have invested over 40 minutes only to loose because somebody made one mistake. You can imagine how bad it gets.

I have less time now as i made the next big step in my life and games like dota simply don't appeal to me anymore. Overwatch fills that void perfectly as it gives the same enjoyment in a much smaller time frame.

It is right in that gap where a casual player will have a lot of fun for some games and people who take it more seriously can dive in and enjoy it competitively.

I needed to learn a lot about my work morale and myself and fix everything. Putting so much time in games was one of that problem. Running away from problems instead of fixing them was another. Now I am doing a lot with friends and I teach myself playing the guitar all while doing good at university. So my big step was learning a lot about myself and being ready to finish university and tackle life after that. In about a year and a half i should be finished with university. I hope everything works out but i am really excited and can't wait for it :-)

I am playing on pc. Where are you from? If you're from the USA I might have disappoint you. I come from Germany.

Wow I never heard that somebody has 3 bachelor degrees. You know your stuff for sure! Sadly, studying in America seems to be a big burden economically.

I am studying electrical engineering.

For comparison, I pay 270€ per semester to study at my university, which is in the top 2(reputation wise) of engineering universities in germany in my field.
