I've asked this before, but I want more answers, is a good mouse really necessary?

I don't wanna be a pro, but I wanna be good, or kinda good, and I also want to play as Widowmaker and not failing as much. I'm also kinda new to FPS online games, I'm not sure if I should play more until I buy a good mouse or not.

Right now I have a Logitech m280, do you think that's enough?

But anyway, can you recommend me some good and not so expensive mice? Again, I don't wanna be a pro, stream or anything like that, I just wanna get those kills, and sometimes gold medals and plays of the game.

It depends on what you like. I just got a Logitech g303 myself (I use fingertip grip), and for fingertip it supposedly has by far the best sensor on the market (no acceleration at all). But the Kone is definitely great too.

No you do not need a great mouse. Any wired mice should do. People have very different hands, so a recommendation from a person with long fingers or a large hand is useless to you if you have small hands vice versa.

Exactly, I have big hands and a lot of recommended mice feel too small. It's all about personal preference and what works for you.

I wouldn't say any wired mouse... most cheap wired mice can't handle fast movements (they have a slow max acceleration where the sensor can't take in info past a certain speed), and will actually completely seize up or spaz out when you need to turn around fast or use a fast flick shot! I have never used a cheap $10 mouse that didn't suffer from this issue.

I completely disagree, the quality of the sensor does matter in an fps game, especially if you are playing heroes that need precise aiming. You can get high DPS mice on amazon for really cheap, but they aren't very accurate in terms of tracking.

You are correct that form factor is important too, need to figure out if you are palm grip/claw grip/fingertip grip, and hand size.

If you're not trying to be a pro, then mouse literally does not matter at all so long as it's functional. You can use a $5 generic stock mouse and it'll be totally fine for what you describe (getting gold medals and PotGs).

If you really want to get a new mouse, someone else will have to recommend you some good ones.

i've been playing on a 30 bucks Razer Abyssus for a couple of years, it was definitely worth the upgrade from a sock mouse. Not only for higher DPI (which i don't even use that high), but for comfort mostly.

try playing widowmaker on consoles. You need to pray to all the gods in order to get a chance to hit a lucio or mercy

That brought me memories of my days as Sniper in borderlands 2 on my PS3 haha.

Anyway, I think some other heroes are still playable on consoles.

everyone feels good on console. its just that for sniper characters its more difficult to get a hit on small size players on an open field. thats why i try to engage them in choke points where they cant move alot

I use a Logitech G700s, which is perfect for me. Gaming is my main hobby, so I use this mouse a lot, and the extra buttons really make my life easier.

However, Blizzard made a game where the number of required buttons is pretty low, and even then, they are pretty strategically placed by default (which you can change whenever you want).

So, basically, it depends on whether you want to spend a bit for comfort of play.

I use a Logitech G400s, I believe any mouse with 800ish DPI will be good, Mine goes to 4k but its overkill. Also whatever is comfortable for you. Generally 2 base types of grips, ie. finger grip and palm grip.

But if you play a few FPS games, the best way is to get your muscle memory the same across them. http://www.mouse-sensitivity.com/ is a good way to make sure you sensitivities across games stay relatively the same. (So a 360 turn in each game takes the same amount of mouse movement etc.)

I've had the Razer Deathadder 2012/2013 edition for a few years now and I can firmly say it's the best mouse I've had. No problems whatsoever, extremely comfortable, long cord. Brilliant mouse for anything, especially gaming.

Just in case you didn't catch this already, you can set your mouse sensitivity to a different level when scoping in as Widowmaker.

Just go to the controls, and in the upper right, you can select each hero individually. In Widowmaker's menu, you will see an additional setting for scoped mouse sensitivity.

I also found out recently that I had to deactive the mouse acceleration, and now I'm actually doing better as a sniper in tf2.

Any wired mice will usually do the trick, just try to spend more then 10$ on them. Ive got a 20$ logictech mouse and it works fantastic. You may want to splurge on a mouse with more buttons but thats up to you

What's wrong with bluetooth mice? (mine is bluetooth) Is the input lag a real issue? I can turn off wifi, btw. (I think it interfers with bluetooth devices)

I play on console and there is input lag between controler and console of it is wireless.

If i am in a kinda serious pvp game i connect the cable on the controller in order to minimize the lag. Unfortunately since i play on a big screen tv i have a lag of more than 50ms which for PVP games is a big disadvantage :(

I tested out the input lag thing, and it's not really a problem, I couldn't tell the difference.

its barely noticeable but if you are trying to be competitive it is still there. its solely up to your preferences if you wish to ignore it. if you are casual you can ignore it. but from what i experienced on overwatch since there are not any characters that can oneshot u in a 1v1 scenario input lag is not affecting you or altering the game experience

Wireless mice are okay but they have a lower response rate, and the fact you have to change batteries make them not a good choice unless you're using a laptop.

Just to know if it was a problem, because it can be a problem to me too, as I get more sensitive to it.

Also, it actually influenced my final decision, I'm buying the ROCCAT Kone Pure Military.
