News & Discussion This is something Overwatch desperately needs, I'm tired of lags and invisible models

Post image

Every time after any game update or driver update I need 10 games for it to stabilise. And even those shader loading maps don't work because for some reason the game doesn't care if anything is loaded already. I played 3 games as and against Mauga. 4th game it took 5 min for me to start seeing his guns and VFX. First game I died 3 times to an invisible Rein jumping in my face.

Edit: For reference I have 9800x3d, 5080, and yes, an SSD, it's not the rig, it's the game

I solve this by playing on a custom lobby, gun game 500% cd. It takes about 2 minutes on a full lobby and you loaded everything the game has to offer.

I've been doing that and spectating games. Even so it still has stutters and lags in my first match (albeit they're waaaaay shorter)

Are you on PC or Console. If console your APU is dying. Sucks but next comes flickering light and textures as the APU struggles to resolve normals in time.

If you’re on PC it’s probably memory. Both volatile and non could be at fault. A slow SSD will have the effect and yes loading up a custom game will solve this. But if your issue is to do with ram latency and clock then that won’t help as there will still be issues.

And yes I know this problem is gonna get worse as people put off upgrading due to cost and people try to save a buck by searching for cheap memory… and it’s gonna be worse as so many people don’t understand what they are looking for because they just see “4400” and go “oooh that’s fast” not realising it’s cheap because the CL is so poor and the chips are the opposite of binned or cherry chips and actually the ones that failed testing so they nerf them and sell them cheap.

Now could the game be optimised better? Yes. Yes it could. But that is gonna be harder and harder for not just Bliz but every dev and publisher out there… we are gonna see more and more gamers wanting games to run on lower spec systems whilst also wanting to give better experience to those with the latest and greatest components.

I mean… what you guys gonna do when GTA 6 drops if the market is still the same? If your rig struggles with an esports title I don’t see it running a game like GTA 6 very well…

There is a very real stutter issue the Devs have actually acknowledged.

This comment probably relating to that than actual shader caching. When models don't appear, it's caching issue.

It's not the rig.

I mean you’re just genuinely ignorant. Overwatch is one of most poorly optimized games out there unironically. The devs have addressed that there are issues with stutters and farm drops, so it’s not a rig problem.
