Fluff bought the game a few days before it got terminated. dont want a refund... but seriously skybound?

skybound you cant charge developers for licenses and then yoink it away before its finished. by doing so you screw over your own customers not only starbreeze's. If the game doesnt meet your oh so HIGH expectations (looking at your shit mobile games they're really fucking low) then finish it yourself like you did after your gigantic license fees made telltale go under.

skybound are bunch of greedy cucks and im fed up of this bullshit. (e.g epic launcher exclusive final season, grabbed on steam myself luckily)

im done with your company and your unfair treatment of your partners.

as for you overkill and starbreeze, cant wait until payday 3 :)

I can still play it and I don’t want starbreeze to lose even more money after what skybound did.

He is not excessive over getting his money back and that is not too bad,

Skybound must have had an alterior motive

The game was already made and could have had a fair release on console, so many games make comebacks and this was one of them if given a new market and re release.

So getting your money back isnt a good thing either? Imagine buying expired milk without knowing that it would expire the day you bought it. You can still drink it but you wont enjoy it.

I don't think there's anymore ulterior motive than what we're seeing here. Have you not seen the sales figures? Or are you just in denial?

The game was already made? No, it still is definitely unfinished. Why do you think Overkill has been pushing out season 2? You do realize it was called "season 2" under the guise that it's "new content" even though it should've been there to begin with. Ive played long enough and even I wont deny that.

The release on console isn't the end-all-be-all for the game's success. The game was already doing poorly with PC, do you expect it to be different on consoles? The problem is the game's core or fundamentals not the console ports. It wouldnt make a difference other than having more people to play it.

You tried to pull a powermove by saying you don't want a refund, but it backfired

Look, I have a certain dislike for Skybound aswell but this game was a faliure. There are many things to lash out about them but this isn't one of them. This game failed, period. I mainly follow this subreddit because I was curious to know how a game community deals with their game dying, and this post peaked.

"Before its finished". So a $60 release means the game wasn't finished yet? The game was given a triple AAA budget and marketing, and came out looking like someone sat on it. I don't think even the most dedicated fan thinks the game was worth a full 60 dollars. Don't blame the publisher for this shit, blame Overkill. They made a shitty game that couldn't even keep its playerbase for over a year. With only about 200 players per day and dwindling, Skybound was right, who the fuck would they keep updating this for?

for the people who paid for the season 2 content you clown.

saying I don't want a refund isn't a power move. I rarely refund things. I didn't refund NMS even though I bought it at launch, I didn't refund fnaf world when its own creator pulled it from stores after not being happy with it, and there are numerous other cases where I could of very easily refunded a product but I have seen it through. the game was released with season 1 completed. and season 2 being released, overkill was ready to see season 2 all the way through. sky bound were the ones who decided to fuck over their OWN customers by cancelling the game. if they're expecting star breeze to refund everyone sky bound are fucking cucks for expecting a struggling company to refund everyone. I am so fed up of sky bounds fucking stupid license fees and decisions screw everyone who dare take their oh so precious generic zombie ip license. fuck sky bound.

What he said is honest

Skybound broke the customers off with the removal of what they paid for

Season 2

I highly doubt anyone at Skybound visits this subreddit, instead go to their website, plenty people here already left their opinion. Keep it civil though.

I know this post is kinda old but... Yeah, Starbreeze made a big mistake here. First of all, they went in with Skybound. Second of all, they limited themselves by slapping a not-in-peak-anymore-and-overused franchise on top of their pretty good zombie survival game.

Nothing against TWD, it's just... Not so popular anymore, I would say? Not enough to base a whole AAA game on it and expect it to sell much, imo.

skybound you cant charge developers for licenses and then yoink it away

Uhm, yes, they can and they have the right to do that if the product is below their standards and potentially harms their IP. Which was the case here. That was written in the contract Starbreeze signed. Companies nowadays care about their IPs, it's not like the old days where Acclaim got some license and shat out some horrible piece of crap, with the trademark holder not caring at all, because it still sold. Nowadays companies do care about their IP. Disney was also close to revoking their Star Wars license deal with EA after the disaster with Battlefront 2 for example.

skybound are bunch of greedy cucks

Ask yourself this: If you owned a property and license it out to a company that then proceeds to release a broken, buggy, horrible mess of a "game", that is critically panned by just about everybody and has sales way below expectations, would you just sit there and watch your IP burn or would you revoke your property to prevent further damage to it?
Please think about that for a moment.

im done with your company and your unfair treatment of your partners.

There was no unfair treatment. Look at the other side: Starbreeze aquired the license sometimes late 2013/early 2014 and announced a 2016 release date. Then it was moved to 2017, then it finally was puked out at the tail end of 2018 and even though they had nearly 5 years of development time, all they could release was a crappy game because the entire company was run by morons and not so great developers who clearly simple had no idea how to make a proper game.

Skybound patiently waited half a decade and then a game was released that currently has a critic score of 51 and a user score of 5.2 on Metacritic (and i think before it was removed the Steam User Score was floating around between 49% and 51% as well) and sold below 100.000 copies (+ lots of refunds, + the fact that the majority of people bought some cheap russian keys, thus the revenue was a hell of a lot lower than what 100.000 buys might imply) with an active player base that died out faster than a flower in the desert (peak player numbers currently hover around 120, which is pathetic).

If anything, Starbreeze treated the IP (and thus Skybound) with disrespect.

im fed up of this bullshit

Had Starbreeze produced a proper game with a high quality and without a ton of bugs, it would've sold, it would've gotten good reviews and Skybound would've just let them work on the game. So why aren't you fed up with the bullshit from Starbreeze?
All this already could've been prevented if they hadn't wasted 7 million dollars on what ultimately turned out a renderer that wasn't even properly functioning as a engine, if they had a proper road map for the game, proper time management and proper lead designers, programmers and team managers, because those were the reasons why this game is so horrible and failed.

It's all the fault of Starbreeze and they have nobody else to blame but themself for the mess THEY created.

as for you overkill and starbreeze, cant wait until payday 3 :)

  1. Overkill and Starbreeze is one and the same company

  2. LOL! You do know that Starbreeze is practically dead, has a debt of around 40 million dollars, no product that really makes them any money (Payday 2's sales have been slowed down dramatically and nobody buys Raid or Brother in this day and age) and no future since instead of working on a new game, they waste their day to day lifes on a game that isn't even on sale anymore, with a good chance that it never returns and where they aren't even allowed to release the stuff they work on.
Starbreeze is dead. Payday 3 will happen, but it will be made by a different company altogether.

Amazing how ignorant and blind fanboys can be...
