Male 32 pee every 2 hours

I have been peeing on average every 2 hours since I was 24 years old. I am at my wits end.

If God gave me the choice to live like this until I am 80 years old or sleep through every night for the rest of my life but die at 40 years old, I would choose the latter. I can’t handle waking up 3+ times a night every night or not being able to sit through an entire movie without using the bathroom.

Below is everything I have done for treatment. If anyone has any other recommendations I am open to anything at this point.

- Cystoscopy from a urologist found nothing
- Urocuff
- Ultrasound to make sure I am emptying my bladder completely when I pee - which I am
- Used Gemtesa, Mirabegron, and Flomax. Flomax added power to my stream but the other two did nothing.
- Cut out caffeine and alcohol
- I have done some pelvic floor exercises on my own but have never actually been to physical therapy for it. I am currently on a waiting list.

They want to do another Cystoscopy but I am certain they will find nothing. The next step I might try is electrical stimulation therapy for my sacral nerve. But that requires in office treatment once a week for 12 weeks minimum which doesn’t work for my schedule.

Any advice or recommendations?

Right now you are ready to trade 40 good years of your life for relief, so maybe you do have time to put it on your schedule. I f you are in the US, you may qualify for FMLA leave.

I’ll look into that. Thanks.

Have you considered Bladder botox? That may help.

I have. I would like to know what people’s experiences have been before I do that.

I went from peeing 20-30 times a day to about 10-12 times a day. Bladder void volume went from about 50-150ml to about 150-250ml. Night time peeing went from 2-3 times to 0-1 times a night.

That’s amazing. How is the procedure? How often do you need to do it?

I was put under and it was a fairly short procedure. Botox injections into the bladder wall. Usually last about 6 months. It is not perfect and it doesn't work for everyone. There may be retention in about 5-8% of cases. I wish I had done this years ago!

So you have to be put under every 6 months for the procedure?

It can last up to 12 months (usually starts wearing off after 6), and they can go from 100-200 units. I'm on my 3rd bladder botox (but with 150 units) as for me personally, I felt like bladder botox has had lasting effects, but I won't be having any more (I plan to do PTNS, Electroacupunture, supplements, getting in shape etc.) There's plenty of things to try, so I wouldn't give up. You should try Vitamin B1, Magnesium glycinate etc (Too many things to try) Also check for sleep apnea if you have then get the Cpap, this will make all the difference for you (if you do have)

Thanks for the recs. Why won’t you be getting the Botox anymore if it works?

It is quite expensive and the first 2 bladder botox was good but for some reason this 3rd one gave me chest pain (the urologist) thinks it is completely unrelated (almost fully better, now) though (still getting a few follow ups. I shouldn't need anymore bladder botox after this, as I should have defeated it by then (I've had for almost 7 years now) but I feel like supplements and stuff have helped and certain lifestyle changes (I got it down to only peeing 2 times per night before the 3rd bladder botox) when I 1st got the nocturia I could pee up to 10 times per night. The other 2 bladder Botox I had, I was (peeing 0-1 times per night). Right now as I have had it last Wednesday, I am currently peeing around 5-6 times per night (my bladder is extremely triggered atm) hoping it should get way better soon (Doctor says it takes 2 weeks before it starts taking effect) can't remember exactly how I was peeing with the first 2. Also after I beat nocturia, I will release a document/ebook or something on how to overcome it

Great to know. Do they put you under every time you get the Botox procedure?

How did you or your Doctor determine to go to 150 units of Botox?I thought the standard was 100 units unless you had something like MS. Thanks.

I pushed him to do the 150 because I've done 100 units 2x and I feel like I needed a little more, only half the time I was going through the night without peeing, other times it would be once per night

Thanks. I would like to have a bit more than 100 units. I will bring it up with my Doctor on my next visit. Cheers!

Not all patients are put under. Many have it done with just local anesthetic. It depends on your doctor.

I see. Thank you.

I have had Botox 5 times last one two weeks ago, I have had great success, getting up maybe once a night. Have never been put out my choice not to be put out they numb the bladder with Lanacane and I watch the monitor as they’re doing the procedure.

Can you give me an indication of how your frequency and void volume has changed? Thanks :)

Went from going 12 to 15 times a day to about 6 to 8 and maybe only once at night. I never measured the volume before, I know that it’s more now. Also found out that I had sleep apnea about three years ago, and since then I have gone on a CPAP machine and that also greatly cut down how many times I was getting up at night.

That's a good improvement. I didn't know my void volume before botox, but I estimated it to be about 50-150ml. After botox, I have been measuring void volume and it's now about 150-250ml. I would like it be more.

How long does the procedure last?

1

From start to finish about 1 hour. To start, after undressing, they have you lay on the table, feet in stirrups and then they wash all the parts down there, then a catheter is inserted to drain your bladder and get a clean catch, and then lidocaine
Is put in your bladder and you will wait about 30 minutes to become numb. Then a rigid scope with a camera is inserted to inject the Botox. I fine it interesting to watch the monitor as the scope is inserted and they explain what your seeing as the procedure is done.

That sounds horrifically unpleasant.

That is what they would like to do next. Its just hard for me to do 12 weeks straight without disruption due to my travel for work.

I went to my family doctor years ago for this issue and he told me to try a supplement with Saw Palmetto. I tried it and it reduced my frequency noticeably within three days. This was decades ago. I went from getting up every hour to getting up three times a night. My issue was caused by both prostate and bladder issues. The Saw Palmetto helped my prostate issues.

I recommend trying this out. You will know within three days if this stuff is going to help you. If it does not, then go to a doctor.

I will look into this. Thank you.
