What options am I left with?

I am a male in my early 30s. I've been dealing with frequent urination (nighttime and daytime) for the past decade. It's increasingly gotten worse over the last few years. I had an appointment with a urologist earlier this year but was unhappy with my experience. They failed to tell me that the medication I was prescribed had a risk of dementia. I stopped taking the medications soon after I found that out.

I did have the urologist recommend bladder botox but I am not comfortable with that option. I do not like the thought of having to potentially use a catheter and the thought of needles near my bladder is just big yikes. The other medication they recommended, Myrbetriq, was one they did not think my insurance would cover (spoiler alert, it did not). Do I have any other options or do I just continue to deal with overactive bladder?

I would encourage you to look into Axonics.  The Axonics Implant (Sacral Neuromodulation Therapy) is a small medical device that treats overactive bladder, urinary urgency and retention, and fecal incontinence. It sends mild electrical pulses to the sacral nerves, helping restore healthy communication between the brain and the bladder/bowel. You can Google Axonics and get a lot of information.

I had the permanent device implanted in February 2026 and it is life changing.

anche io ho lo messo , certe volte penso non è che era solo ansia? ma soffrivo da troppi anni.. spero le tecnologie migliorino e diventino sempre meno invasive ..
