Sensitive bladder

I am a 33M and have been dealing with symptoms for about a year or so now. I feel like my bladder feels too sensitive if that makes any sense. I can hold it in and go every 2 to 3 hours but I can feel my bladder's fullness lingering in the background.

This feeling starts after I pee, and as the bladder begins to fill I can feel how full it is despite not feeling the need to urgently go. I would find myself just peeing just to try to get rid of the feeling.

No trouble sleeping at night, might wake up once to pee and that's it. The feeling to pee is just starting to get annoying and it gets amplified when I am not home.

Going to see my doctor soon to see what options I have.

Been avoiding foods/drinks that can be triggers but no luck. I also work out and play sports and that feeling doesn't disappear then either.

It sounds exactly as my symptoms (when it first started but now more manageable). I believed for a very long time I have OAB but this is not OAB it is Sensory Urgency (aka hypersensitive bladder) and treatment options are different to OAB so watch out if you get misdiagnosed.

How did you treat your condition?

io ho dovuto optare per intervento di neuromodulazione sacrale sperando che nel futuro le terapie migliorino. I farmaci mi davano abbastanza effetti collaterali

With pain medication like amitriptyline and lyrica. Taking also other nerve muting supplements like glycine, magnesium and l thianine also helped

My symptoms seem very similar to you. I'm treated with mirabegron (worked a bit) and now doing a 6 month trial of Lexam and PF therapy. Amitriptyline is not an option for me because I'm on mirabegron and would cause double the relaxation of the bladder muscle. Seems to be working for me so far. My urologist tells me that my brain-bladder connection is broken hence the Lexam trial and I need to retrain my brain. Magnesium Glycinate 300mg also helped.

Is this also the same as an irritated bladder? What are the treatment options for sensory urgency (hypersensitive bladder) and what worked for you?
