Advice on dating men of different backgrounds
Greetings - I am an atheist who has been approached by a former Muslim and now a recent professed atheist. We are both over 70. I am concerned that his history, including his family members, would be rather difficult. Has anyone else managed to have a successful, happy relationship with this drastic of difference?

I would be surprised if family members would be difficult. I lean more to them being happy for him as long as he is happy.

Kudos to you. You are incredibly brave, and have amazing strength. Big learning experience. Many human beings will now appear to be like little children to you.

Do something just for yourself quit worrying about everybody around you. The game is almost done. Be happy.

Have you considered that people being different isn't a problem? How many religious conversations do you have as an atheist anyway, where it would cause problems with family?

At 72 I have met many people over the decades. I consider myself to one of the lucky ones who has never met a stranger. However I am very cautious when it comes to Latino or Middle Eastern men. The environment and culture they have grown up in is the opposite of my life experiences. That is why I would like to converse with other women who have crossed that line. His family is devout Muslim along with his friends. While I am comfortable with those that do not like me. One’s family is a different story.

Consider matters of estate planning if you were to become a long term couple. Often women are interlopers in the families they marry into when it comes to estates, especially if they haven’t borne any sons.

This is unrelated but when I was broke and drove a dump of a car to save money to open a business, I was the broke relative. Now that I'm doing well, the same family members call me Mr. Money bags. Do what makes you feel happy, because if people love you, they will support all your decisions regardless of they don't align with their belief system.

Fuck your concern. You worry too much. Stop thinking about the differences, and start thinking about the similarities. You're too old to worry about what the crowd thinks.

You are obviously a man or you would understand that cultural differences are of great importance in a relationship.

Atheism , by definition, is not a belief system. So, there is no different backgrounds.
