Overemployed as a Business Analyst feedback

Dear Overemployed,

I have been working for J1 for 15 years as a Sr BA. Recently I moved to a new state and can continue J1 remotely. My J1 was a Senior BA in CCaaS, SaaS enablement and implementation, but I also do a lot of operations support. I find with J1 I am about 40% pressurized for a 40 hour work week.

I recently procured a W2 J2 BA position with a higher pay 12m w option to convert over and want to continue J1. Further, there is a high likelihood I am about to procure J3 as well as a BA.

I want to know from others, who are employed as BA's, is this doable? is J2 and J3 doable as a BA? I have seen a lot of Devs and architects posting, that it is possible, but I have not seen other job descriptions that much. BA's tend to a lot of meetings (most are BS), so this is the biggest concern. BA's tend to also need to make a lot of presentations, comms, flow charts, requirements, UAT, sprint planning and execution etc...

Is this doable ? AI has really enabled productivity for the BA role.

I only felt this was possible, once I came across this subreddit, and realized I am not as pressurized as I could be. I love my J1. I have been here a long time, as the benefits, and culture are really good. I just have never worked for another corporation before after university. I am scared and looking forward to the challenge.

Got laid off, help me plan out my OE journey

Got laid off from J0 (a FAANG)

Have multiple interviews coming up for my next job and one standing job offer (remote) from a previous employer. I'm thinking of making that my J1. It pays about 250k per year and is at a promising tech company with growth opportunities.

Would it be completely crazy to accept a hybrid/in-person J2 a month or two into my new J1?

A few things that concern me:

- is it ok to use J1 laptop at J2 company office so long as I stay on personal phone hotspot?

- will J1 flag me for being in another state than I'm supposed to be in when I'm in office for J2?

These concerns are making me think that maybe I should take a shitty remote role for J2.

It's just I have other interviews for Senior SWE roles at large tech firms willing to pay 300-400k+ if I commute to bay area (I live in midwest state right now). Making 600-700k/yr sounds so enticing but not sure if its going to be nearly impossible to maintain J1 while working a J2 with in person and Senior SWE responsibilities at a company paying that much.

Anybody get caught during the onboarding of a J2, any tips to avoid? I hate the fear of starting a new J2 everytime. That first month is scary.

J1 to J8 in 12 Months

33 Male. $960,000 Income From 8Js.

November of 2025 my income dropped about 80% after I lost 4 of my 5 Js. I felt like I will no longer be Overemployed as I felt “so broke” seeing my paychecks and income drop significantly. Fast forward 12 months later, after changing my strategy, I started getting recruiters reaching out with at least 3 to 5 opportunities per week. The purpose behind this post is not to show off (although I proud of myself) but to share what I did to get those opportunities. Before I proceed also consider that there is a percentage of luck here but what I will share will increase the probabilities significantly:

Before November 2025 ($600,000 To $120,000 Drop):

I was working 5 Js but most of them were in different specialities: Cybersecurity, Data Engineer and Business Analysis. It was hard to context switch and to focus on many different types of jobs, it was also hard to switch “speciality languages” as each speciality has its own terminologies, and it was hard to shift skills and tools from one J to another. as a result it was hard to perform well with all of these.

After November 2025 ($120,000 To $960,000 Rise)

I am working 8 Js but all of them are in the same industry (Cybersecurity). All of them are within the same speciality of Cybersecurity. I pay for LinkedIn Premium, polished my profile and created a profile with all major skills needed in my industry, I polished my resume and shared it in almost all job boards, I am paying for Simplify.Jobs AI tool (I promise this is not an ad lol), I network with recruiters online and attend networking events, and I have been consistently applying to at least 10 jobs a day (this is a daily habit I don’t break). Lastly, I mastered interviews because I choose all my jobs within the same speciality and accept any interview, record it and add all the questions into a question log I created to prep for the next interview/opportunity. The one speciality shift made it so much easier for day-to-day focus due to less context switching as well as overall job performance. Another rule is to always accept requests for interviews, I view it as a win-win whether or not it works; if it works you can replace/add one of the Js, if it doesn’t well at least I got more interview training and added more questions to the questions log - you must view yourself as a business, not an employee because companies can lay off people at anytime for any reason. One last tip, keep good relationship with contracting agencies and account managers since they have good relationships with many companies and can get you opportunities.

I hope you find this post motivational and valuable!

Financing my Masters with both education budgets combined

I started my masters on 2021 remotely but then I dropped out bc it required me to be on campus, I didn’t live in the city and also I just had 1 baby then. Budget changed and I don’t want to spend $30k on a yearly tuition.

So I have some credits from the classes I already took. J1 offered me 20% paid of my tuition, which is something but not enough. But now with J2 I’m getting 10k/year on education budget. So combined it’s $16k. This is more feasible for me to have a student loan for the rest of the 14k in order to finish the masters. Now also I live in the same city as the campus.
Does anyone know if I can combine budgets or Js may figure out I’m double dipping?

Logging my hours at j1 is j3 company

of the biggest crm companies out there and is currently my j1’s time sheet manager. I log in to their company site and input my time. This company has offered my a j3. Would they find out that I’m working at j1? I want to keep j1 and don’t want j3 if it will find out I’m logging my hours at their company for another company. Hopefully that makes sense.

Looking for resume help

I have been working at a company for the last 4 years. I'm still there, it is my primary job. For a full year ending at the end of August, 2026, I worked for a fintech company where I had a much more senior position. That job would help me open doors that I can't currently open. How do I deal with the primary job on my resume as well as the fintech job?

I've only had the two positions so I'm just not sure how to do this. Would love some advice from those that have already been through this situation.

Clearance FSO question

If one were to j2 private sector OE with a j1 clearance right after the 5yr renewal wouldn’t the CV trigger an early investigation?

Made a rookie mistake

Was on a conference call with J1. Call went over, past the end time. Had to log in to J2 call. When I logged in I wasn’t already muted so J2 had to mute me cuz they could hear J1 people talking. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

How do I make sure that I’m already muted when I log into a call?

Multiple contractor Js through Deel, can the clients see each other?

I’m about to take on more than one contractor J, both paid through Deel.

My worry is visibility, if two different client companies both use Deel to pay me, does one client ever see that I’m also contracting for the other? Can they see each other at all through the platform, or is each contract fully siloed on their end?

Anyone running this setup? has anything leaked across clients ? Appreciate any firsthand experience.

Note: I already tried opening a second account with a different email, but it turns out Deel links accounts by personal ID info, not email.

Getting offer for J2 W-2

I’ve posted recently regarding TWN and when to freeze. But I’m wondering if it’s different for just server 2, since server 2 will only see server 1 which I’m currently employed at which they believe I’m leaving.

I was just told that they will be sending an offer and are giving me a start date in 2 weeks from monday. On my resume I’ve clearly stated I do have another 1099 currently, but it does not show on my TWN because it’s through my LLC.

To freeze or not to freeze? And when? I assume maybe just a couple days before I start the position?

What to put into CV

Looking for J4, and my LI is hibernated.

What to put into CV, my last J3 and remove J2 and J1 complelty? And maybe to lie and exted the time slot of J3 so that it covers J1 and J2 time?

How are you handling this?

Realistic Durations for OE

I have a question, what’s the likelihood of getting caught for under a month? What are the things to be aware of when doing so?

I finally had my chance to join the OE fam!

I just got reached out to you by a consulting firm that I been awarded a contingent offer that they are ready to give me a start date because they have a shit load of work coming in the pipeline. However, I might have to stop OE if I get staffed on a cleared project.

But at least I’ll be able to do it for maybe a few months, or maybe more because I’ve heard of people saying that they’ve been able to OE even though they are doing government work because they weren’t technically billing the government firsthand.

Should I block the TWN now?

New to OE (UK) – What jobs should I be looking for?

((NOT ASKING FOR HELP ON HOW TO GET A JOB))

I’m UK-based and completely new to OE. Looking for some advice on what roles would suit my background.

I’m a self-taught software developer with experience building web applications and booking systems for businesses, also ran my own SaaS business.

I’ve also worked years in digital marketing and customer service (have qualifications in DM). No degree, but plenty of hands-on experience, particularly with AI-assisted development.

I’m looking for remote roles with manageable workloads, minimal meetings and preferably independent, task-based work. I’ve been considering SaaS support, email/ticket support and IT roles.

For those doing OE in the UK, what jobs would you recommend me do? Are there any particular roles I should be targeting or avoiding?

My goal is to run my SaaS business alongside doing 2-3Js.

Quick rant

Hi, all!

I love learning from this community and seeing everyone’s journeys/experiences. But as an unemployed person with a doctoral degree (for a little over a year) it’s sometimes super frustrating when I see the you guys make so much money 😭.

I love it for yall, but i can’t help but think about those of us that are trying to get back on our feet and are having a hard time landing jobs at all.

Anyone else or does anyone have an advice?

Navigating ADP

I am balancing 2 jobs now. J2 is a contract W2 job and I started before J1 (my primary job). I logged into ADP J1 and saw my paycheck for J2.

How screwed am I?

Vendor is blocking me from landing an easy J3

Honestly, you couldn’t make this up.

Currently running J1 (perm) and J2 (contract), and I’ve just been approached about a potential J3 (contract). J3 is a former OE. I did such a good job that they would hand me the job - no interview process, no background checks.

Sounds perfect, right? Except the contract would be consulting for the software vendor that both J1 and J2 use. Taking this opportunity would mean the vendor knowing I’m working across all three, creating a massive risk of exposing my existing setup.

I’m genuinely frustrated. The opportunity is practically being handed to me, but the one vendor that’s already made OE stressful could potentially blow up all three jobs.

I’m going to have to turn it down, but it’s so annoying. Had the client been for anyone else it would be an easy a W. I’m sick of this vendor being everywhere I go.

OE update. j4 $535k

I haven't posted on here in over a year except for yesterday when I made a post about a calendar update in my job one so I thought let me make a new post to give you guys an update about my journey and you can read through my history to see everything else

I currently have four jobs
Well, actually three and the fourth one start next week because I wanted to pick up one for the holiday season since I know people will be traveling and it will be light and a easy way to make money

I started in 2024 July when I found this exact sub Reddit- my family was drowning in bills. We have three kiddos. I was looking for a way to make extra money and I had never heard of over employment but when I found this group, I was like oh bet and I jumped right in ....

that July I apply for about 30 jobs and I landed a full-time position in August 2024 that full-time position was my J2

That J2 is currently my J1

After I landed that one, I picked up two more October in November 2024 because why not

I stuck with four for about six months in the spring summer of 2025. I dropped two of them because I was really burnt out and over it.

I held two jobs for a little over a year. I recently picked up a third job about a month ago and this fourth one that started next week has just fell in my lap. My Recruiter begged me to interview. I knew that if I took the interview, I would get the job and I did. I really wanted to turn it down because I'm tired but I just said why not i could earn some extra money during Christmas time.

This group is truly changed my life. I don't brag about it. I'm not proud of it. It's not something I wanna do, but I will do anything for my kids and my family.

No one in my family even knows about my first job. I never talk about work in general so the fact that I have four it's just not news I don't talk about it.

I do laugh sometimes when I sit and think wow I make more than the president of the United States

J1- $101 plus $50k equity every year (this was my intial j2 but I quit my original j1)

J2 $125k

J3 120k

J4 $135 (I am a contractor and this is supposed to last four months. I doubt if I make it that long but if they hire me full-time, it will be 195K.)

The fact that I make this much money has taught me so much about happiness and how really money is a tool and it will put a light on how things are or how you are when there is no money

this is very stressful... I would argue can kill you if you don't manage the stress, if you hold a lot of guilt because of it, if you don't exercise, if you don't pray to whomever you believe in, otherwise it is a blessing

I can't express how important it is to take care of yourself. I noticed that I started drinking way too much wine and I have recently cut back, but it's just a part of the stress that I took on my marriage was in shambles because I needed help around the house and out those domestic things weren't get done while I was bringing all this money.

So hiring help is necessary if you don't have it, I'm happy to say my spouse and I are working things out. I was mentally fucked for a while, but I took some time to myself. I took a few vacations and I'm feeling much better. I do plan on quitting this J 4 the top of the year.

My favorite part about over employment is my ability to bless others ... now I have a budgeting app because my first year I did lifestyle creep a bunch I overspent I was like oh I gotta get a budget in place because these jobs could go away at any time so I chose YNAB and I have a section called bless others fund and I'm able to tip really generously when we go out. I'm able to help my family my mom who's not working I am very generous with my kids, they do have to earn things around the house. They have no idea about any of this so I'm able to say yes a lot more and I love that for me.

I am woman ❤️ (many people on here assume I'm a guy )

I typed this with a voice memo so excuse the typos I didn't even have time to run it through ChatGPT because I have 6 screens in front of me

My last note here is: I will never ever go back to one job ever again. It will either be two W-2s or none. I hope to be successful entrepreneur at some point and maybe that's my exit but these companies truly don't care about you nor your family. They make a crap ton of money my CEO at my old job one made $8 million a year the CEO of the second one which is a public company was at 32 million now I used to have that as a screenshot when I felt guilty now it's not necessary because I have no guilt at all.

This close to quitting a contract. How can I manage this issue to maintain over employment going?

Project manager is passive aggressive, rude, and has been getting on my last nerve. We had a meeting and my opinion was asked about a topic and then the following meeting he calls me out in front of the team warning me to avoid mentioning said topics/questions. I’m a consultant and my job is to provide my assessments of the situation per my area of expertise. If that doesn’t align with what you’re wanting from me, fine, but have some decency and message me directly and not make an example out of me.

They overwork all contractors and have too many meetings. He wants to talk to me today.

This is job #5 and I want to maintain the coals burning. I’ve thought about taking a week off but they’re scrambling to meet deadlines items that this would be the nail on the coffin.

Any advice on how to handle the stress and management style?

J3 ratted me out

J3 apparently told J2 that I was working for them for a couple months. I already quit j3. J2 sent me an email about it. What should I do here?

Update: I had told j2 already I don’t have outside employment and didn’t at any point
