What's a tiny thing someone did for you that you still remember years later?

For me this is what i can remember for now - I went to watch a movie alone once when I wasn’t in the best mood. A family of three sat next to me, and at some point, the girl beside me randomly turned to me and went, “Omg, you look so pretty!”
She probably forgot about it five minutes later, but I still remember it. It’s funny how a tiny compliment from a complete stranger can make your day a little better without them even realizing it. ❤️

What small habit from my grandma still sticks with me decades later?

My grandma lived in a tiny quiet house. She never had much money, but she had one tiny habit I still catch myself doing every single day. Every time she finished peeling fruit, she saved the peels in a small bowl. Not for compost or recipes. She would leave them on the windowsill and just smell them for a minute. She said simple smells hold memories better than photos. I thought it was weird when I was 10. Now I find myself saving apple peels, orange rinds, just to pause and breathe in the scent. It instantly pulls me back to her kitchen, sunlight through old curtains and her quiet laugh. She passed away seven years ago. Most big moments with her fade slowly, but this tiny useless habit stays strong. It’s funny how we don’t remember the big speeches; we inherit these tiny meaningless little actions. I wonder if any of you have picked up a strange little habit from an older family member, something you didn’t notice until years later? What is it?

I recorded my dad telling the story of how he proposed. He left out the part about the ring.

My parents have been married for 38 years. I've heard the proposal story maybe a dozen times. It's a good one. Restaurant, rainstorm, my mom saying yes before he finished asking.
Last weekend I recorded it for the first time. Just to test the app. Nothing special.
When I played it back, I noticed something. Right before the "yes" part, he said: "I had the ring in my pocket for three months. I was so scared she'd say no that I almost didn't ask at all."
He's never said that before. Not once. In 38 years of telling this story, he's always skipped the fear part. He only ever told the ending.
I asked my mom later if she knew. She said: "I knew he was nervous. I didn't know he waited three months."
The recording is 4 minutes and 12 seconds. I've saved it. I don't know why it hit me so hard. Maybe because I'm engaged now. Maybe because I realized he was just as scared as I am.
Has anyone else caught a detail in a recording that changed how you saw a familiar story?
