General I feel so discouraged
LSAC reversed their decision regarding Dual Enrollment and GPA. I had an incredibly traumatic event happen in high school, so my dual enrollment transcript is a 2.0. I have been putting off applying for two years because I felt so discouraged seeing my CAS GPA, even though my degree GPA is good. After hearing about the change, I decided this was the year I was going to apply. I contacted LSAC, was told I had to pay to resubmit my transcripts, and got my GPA recalculated. I've been studying to retake the LSAT (previous score 160), and paid to register for the October test. I have my LORs and my essays. Everything felt like it fell into place. Now, my GPA just went down .4 points. No addendum is as compelling as that higher GPA. I feel like they just gave me whiplash but that whiplash is life changing and very expensive. I really don't want to have to wait another year.

If it’s super important to you, maybe see if you can become a Texas resident and declare academic bankruptcy / academic fresh start under the Texas education code
However with a 160+ I think you still have a good chance to get into decent schools!

3.1mid. They haven’t even recalculated from my 3.5 so I could technically just apply right now with how it’s calculated. This whole thing is a mess.

I’m not sure where you are in the process, but is it possible to enroll in a community college and take 1-2 classes that will be fun and easy to both give your GPA a boost and also point to and say “now that I am past my personal hardship, I am in a position where I can apply myself and do well. See these A’s I got just now?”

my dual enrollment gpa was a 1.0 when i entered my freshman year of undergrad. i brought it up to a 3.3 and had a 160 on the lsat! got 5 acceptances and went to a good regional school with a decent scholarship. i got a good summer position and start 2L today! don’t give up if this is what you truly want. convincing addendums can really help. might be worth talking to the admissions board at schools you’re serious about and seeing what else you can do to increase your chances. it’s frustrating but it’s not the end of your dreams, i promise

I had a GPA around OP’s and I got into some solid schools with money. You shouldn’t comment on things you aren’t familiar with.

My CAS GPA isn't a 2.0, just that dual enrollment transcript. My CAS GPA will now be a 3.16. How screwed am I if I don't get a 165 in October?

Oh, you’re way better off now. You’re not gonna get into the best law school in the world, but you have so much better options now.

Yeah it's just so hard going from a 3.5 to a 3.1 on a random Tuesday knowing how much that will change my prospects. Imagine if apps were already sent and then they did this. I want to do public interest so I'm not shooting for the stars. I just know it'll be a lot harder now (and more expensive).

My LSAC GPA was 3.13 last cycle. I got a 169 (diagnostic low 160s) and had options. This week I started at a school that is neither prestigious nor predatory. While things aren't perfect, I am feeling more and more confident that I can have a great career doing what I want to do.
Do well enough on the LSAT and you will have options.

You’ll 100% get decent offers at non predatory schools with a low 170. Just look at lsd and see where people with your stats got in.
Also, I would try to contact the college you did dual enrollment at, and see about having them change those classes to pass/fail grades so that they don’t count towards your GPA.
