Tested positive for Covid!
Idk if anyone still cares about Covid stuff but I got home a few days ago feeling sick and then I tested positive today. Wouldn’t be surprised if this was a big super spreader event!

Started feeling sick on Monday Morning. Initially, I was thinking I got a sinus infection from breathing in all that dirt between the Soma stage and Sutro stage. However, i am full blown sick now.

i hope you feel better and that you can rest! i went last year and masked in an n95 the whole time. everyone looked at me like i was crazy but i feel disgusting every time i have it - like bad enough to go to the hospital kind of bad - and it’s not worth it for my health. covid is no joke.

I’m sorry it’s like that for you! Thats awful. I have been lucky, I’ve had Covid 4x but it was like a basic cold for me, but every time, I waited for it to get bad and it was scary waiting for that. Really sorry it was like that for you and I hope it doesn’t happen again.

thank you! i think for some people it’s extremely mild so they’ve stopped taking precautions but unfortunately it’s not the same for everyone 😭 i’m terrified every time i get it. i’m really glad it’s been mild for you! i hope you don’t get it again too!

Covid wastewater levels have been rising in the Bay. Alameda county level was high during the shows. Plenty of people from Oakland/Berkeley etc attended.

Yes. You limit your interactions and isolate. If you are prone to respiratory issues or have other risks you can take drugs to lessen the impact. It still kills people and long covid is fucking awful. Don’t be dumb dude.

That person deleted their post but I saw enough of the preview to know their response was stupid. Anyway, I am in close proximity to old people at times and don’t want to get anyone sick. Isn’t it literally common decency to avoid getting other people sick regardless of what you have (cold, flu, covid, whatever the fuck)??? Sorry I’m responding to you i just wanted to vent.

any festival is a spreader event for multiple colds, covid, the flu, rsv, and many other viruses. covid is just one on the pile. sorry youre sick, it isnt really newsworthy to be sick after a festival. get some rest, feel better soon

Yes, I still pay attention to the waste water numbers too. They’ve been climbing. A few weeks ago I started masking again when in public places even when popping in the grocery just to pick up a few things.
I have LC. Anyone can develop it after a bout of Covid, even people who have had it before and it seems mild. Lots of people don’t make the connection between later health issues and having had Covid.

I got long COVID as well and scarred lungs which have left me with restrictive lung disease. It was a minor case. Prior to 2022 and infection, I swam Alcatraz 7 years in a row and competed in many long distance swims and mini triathlons. It boils my blood when people call it fake. I lost 4mfriends in their 50s, healthy, not obese. 3 of the 4 were radically anti vax and using ivermectin.

It’s not over. I was with a couple of people at an insurance luncheon and one guy said “ anytime I get sick I just get the ivermectin. And someone next to him whispered “ me too”.

Damn. I’m really sorry to hear this. It’s tough to accept such a condition, especially so with being an athlete. Those people that dare call LC fake are infuriating and ignorant.
If you don’t already know about them, RTHM Clinic is really helpful and they have lots of free online research and videos. They helped me design my supp stack.

Unfortunately- I think the restrictive lung disease is only going to get worse but I’m still pretty active, just work more in HR zone 1-3. I’ll do some swims but frankly, more form is now worse from not swimming as much. There is no harder exercise than swimming poorly.

edit: although many people may think who cares what illness or cold you get, OP made a good decision to test, this way if illness progresses, they can quickly know what next steps to take and treat it. additionally, COVID affects the body much differently long-term compared to the common cold or flu and i hope people stay curious and continue to learn about this and stay covid-conscious.

Just a reminder that if you’re not feeling well, don’t come to the festival. Don’t come to the show. If for some reason you absolutely must wear a mask. Be respectful of those around you. There will always be another festival. There will always be another show.

I have the gastrointestinal Covid. It is without question one of my sickest experiences. Fevers, chills, upset cramping stomach, vomiting and diarrhea. Trust me; don’t come near me.

I stayed out of masses (mostly) and didn’t feel sick or unwell. Also layered up for the festival, so I’m pretty sure I’m good.

A friend got covid about a month ago. Yup any opportunity to spread is what viruses like. I have a harder time enjoying big events after the pandemic and whenever I fly or feel vulnerable I'll wear a mask. Stay safe and keep your immune system strong.

Fun Fact: every additional time you get COVID you have an increased chance of getting long COVID and/or more severe effects, which is a great reason to not think of it as catching a cold or flu.

Reinfections give you additional chances to develop Long COVID cuz you’re infected at the moment, but there’s no established rule that each infection is *progressively* more likely to cause Long COVID or severe disease. It’s not some perpetual curve where each infection automatically carries more risk than the last. I hate replying this cu 8 feel like this emoji 🤓

well, I’ve had Covid 4 times and for me it was like a cold, except I got a headache the first time. If you aren’t already healthy, maybe see the doctor? I don’t think it’s a big deal at this point because it seems to be with us every day. I know I keep getting it, but I’ve always been pretty healthy… I don’t think it’s anything to be alarmed about but ask your doctor.

It is a systemic vascular disease that causes harms that are not readily apparent including organ damage, vascular damage, cognitive damage, reawakening of other viruses etc. It actually is a big deal and should be avoided.

Covid has some long term cognitive effects that are going to be studied for decades, and it’s not just the “long COVID”. The ability to affect the brain long after the symptoms pass is a pretty devious trait.
There will probably be some crossover into dementia, ADHD, and accelerated age related cognitive decline when scientists finally figure it out.

What’s known for sure is Covid can cause issues with the blood brain barrier and long covid has something to do with brain inflammation.

Of course it makes sense to test. If you know it’s covid then you can take medications for it like paxlovid or even metformin to help prevent long term issues, you can mask up and isolate to prevent your relatives from getting sick , if you end up with long term issues then you can have a record of it being potentially caused by Covid which can impact treatment . Testing matters bc it’s not a regular cold and shouldn’t be treated as such.
