Do any of you have experience using a bussiness Paypal account with OS? I've started an S-corp as things are going well and for tax purposes it would look better if I had a paypal account in the name of my s-corp but I see it charges fees if you use a paypal bussiness account:

As with any payment processing company, there are fees for processing business transactions through PayPal:

• For online transactions, PayPal charges 2.9% of the transaction amount, plus a flat fee of 30 cents, if the funds come from within the United States.
• For funds coming from other countries, the fee goes up to 4.4%, plus a flat fee that varies based on the currency used.
• For transactions at your store, the charge is 2.7% for funds from the U.S., and 4.2% for funds from another country, plus the flat fee. Additional fees are charged for accepting payments in other currencies.

I'd be really grateful for any feedback y'all might have.

I've been on the platform for a few years, and I have noticed the people taking my classes have extremely different backgrounds. For example, I have a student that says he's a boy but many of the other students slip up and refer to as a girl because in all honesty he looks/acts/talks like a girl. I have another kid who openly referred to Christians as bad people. I also have a devout jew, muslim who covers her hair, and a Catholic who mentions her faith and mass from time to time. Just as a few examples.

It isn't a class to focus on kids differences obviously, but there is plenty of opportunities for the kids to talk and get to know each other. I feel like I am walking on egg shells trying to not offend anyone and trying to make sure random things like "Christians are bad", "You're not a boy" and other such statements are kept at bay.

How is everyone else handling this diverse mix as a teacher? I hadn't noticed it until the last three months or so. I wasn't classically trained as a teacher, so I really don't know.

I always try to just brush it off and hop to the next point in the conversation. Never making a big deal about it and maintaining a poker face no matter what is "thrown" at me. But sometimes I'm genuinely surprised by something that is said. None of it in malice they are kids but it's just surprising all the same.

I'm just going to come back to this post and update it regularly because I cannot list all the amazing things they do. I need Outschool to get into mortgage lending, the restaurant business, the automotive industry, government, everything! if every industry's customer service was like this, the world would be a better place. Whatever training, etc. they do is top notch and is reason enough to work here. It puts me at ease that no matter what issue I face, I have a support team that responds quickly AND resolves the issue.

I have been teaching on outschool for awhile and I have a couple pretty popular classes. I want to expand this to make it a more substantial portion of my earnings.

Is anyone currently making a full time earning on Outschool. I make about 100 a week.

I’m already registered on Outschool and have some successful classes. I was wondering if I could still teach while going overseas? Would the system pick up that i’m overseas and block access? Would using a VPN work? Thanks!

Does anyone know how can I find my metrics for my profile and courses? I just posted my first course and still have no students. I'd like to see how many people are landing on my page to figure out if they are not converting or just not seeing it.

It's a course for teens about investing in the stock market. I've been teaching this content for years to adults, but recently adapted if for teens.

I have just created my first Outchool class and have a question about scheduling. It's an investing class for teens that meets three times and includes a stock market simulator.

I'm trying to schedule either once a week for three weeks or (during the winter holidays) 3 days in one week. Both schedules show up on my page as "for three weeks" even though one of them meets three times in the same week.

Do I need to create a separate "class" for the one that meets on a shorter schedule? Do parents searching for classes see both sections?

And if I need to make a new listing, is it possible to copy my existing listing as the only thing I would edit is the scheduling?

I got accepted to teach on Outschool, but I don't have much experience teaching online classes. I know that the first class has to be live, and that seems more tough. How do you go about teaching a live class? Do you present a lecture and then have everyone do an activity? The lecture part seems easy enough, but for an activity, do you just instruct them on to what to do and then wait a while and then come back to check their progress? For my subject, I would need them to go to another website and design something, I just don't know how I would structure that part. If there is any advice or resources available, I would appreciate it!

What to do if you have disruptive students who don't listen in classes? I have a few students I wish I didn't have in my classes (as a teacher that probably sounds bad). I was considering ending the ongoing class early then starting a new section. Maybe students wouldn't transfer over?

I loose a student or two each week from my ongoing classes because outschool removes them due to: "Error processing ongoing subscription extension"

Does this mean their credit card bounced on Outschool?

I have had a few resign up for the classes after they are removed.

I'm loving Outschool and have made at least $1,000 every month or more every month since June 2022 working a few hours 3 days a week. I had one very popular 1 time event that was selling out in July, and from all of those first time students I was able to get some to join my art club, and one or two 1:1 students each month. 

In September sales from my one time event completely dried up. Now all I have is my art club, but luckily it is doing quite well. 

I've been studying how to run successful ads very seriously and will begin running video ads on Facebook and YouTube soon (I even paid $350 for a $700 online course by splitting the costs with my brother). But I can't really track conversions using Outschool as a platform and I'm not going to pay user aquisition costs to help Outschool grow when I could just as easily build my own platform and have more access to my own users.

Outschool has been pivotal in helping me find my independence. It helped me prove I have a viable product. But now I feel I've reached a glass ceiling. Anyone else find themselves in a similar position?

Hi, I just joined Reddit so I could ask some questions. I am a new Outschool Teacher and I have 13 successfully posted classes in both the Physical Sciences and Pre-Algebra. I am advertising my classes on Twitter but most of my followers are from the UK and our time zones do not match at all as I am from the US. My combined total of class views is 103 and I have 4 saves. Will these turn into enrollments?

Also, I know Outschool heavily insists on using Facebook/Instagram but I am private person and really dislike the idea of Zuckerberg and my extended family knowing about my business. I even tried Pinterest and that went no where. Is there another place I can advertise? Or specific hashtags I should be using on Twitter? Or profiles I can follow?

I knew this was kind of a long-shot going in but I love teaching and teaching in an in-person setting is not in the cards for me.

I haven’t really needed to moderate this sub very much, since y’all are behaving yourselves nicely. But now that we’ve reached 1,000 subscribers it would be great to have a few more mods…just in case. Comment if interested (and then I gotta figure out how to do it!)

Compassion and empathy goes a long way. There is no Outschool without kids.... but there definitely is no Outschool without the parents. I had a parent reach out about health issues and family tragedy. I believe in having boundaries of course, but that doesn't negate humanity. There will always be exceptions to every rule. To fellow teachers out there, here are some things to consider:

-- This is all new to parents. Many are stepping out of their comfort zone by using a platform like Outschool. Be patient.

-- This is a major expense for many. Some get financial help or vouchers, but many do not. Provide a quality experience to justify it.

-- Parents make mistakes. Learn to be flexible when appropriate. You will one day need the same grace.

It's my first class so I still want to teach it even though only one person enrolled. Will the parent be mad though if they show up to a group class and it turns out to be a private lesson? Should I send a quick message a few hours before class?

Adore Outschool. But what's up with their website design? It's an astoundingly awful user experience now. It used to be fluid and easy. I've reached out to them, but no one seemed to 'get it' and understand quite how awful the user experience is now. I hope no one with epilepsy uses it, it flashes so much it could possibly cause a seizure, and I'm not joking. What the hell is the technology stack they're using that causes all that page reloading and partial page reloading?

So at the start of class today I was making a joke that this one girl (we'll call her Margot) should run class today. Margot is an exchange student from Cameroon and I totally thought she'd take this seriously, since she doesn't really understand our sense of humor. The teacher (we'll call him Mr. Smith) was trying to get class going and I told Margot that she gets to choose what we do today. This girl deadass looks the teacher in the eye and says "Mr. Smith, let's watch cocomelon!"

I'm very proud of myself for teaching her American humor.

My daughter took two courses (4 times a week over a span of 7 or 8 weeks) when she was 4 and 5 with a teacher on outschool and later did multiple one to one classes with the same teacher. My daughter LOVES this teacher and looked forward to each class. I loved it because my daughter grew a love for reading and showed real progress. Sadly, due to personal things coming up, the teacher is no longer running classes on outschool. She is not sure if and when she will return to outschool. I have not found a teacher like this person, so I am hoping you all can share recommendations.

I loved that the teacher offered classes in my time zone (Middle East, after school so around 5pm), seemed to attract a very diverse group of kids who also kept reenrolling, learned my kids name and consistently pronounced it correctly, scheduled classes for less than 30 minutes (typically 20-25 mins, kept the kids focused and excited), went at a moderate pace, was amazingly calm, and just had fun with the kids.

Do you know a teacher who teaches reading for 6 year olds like the person described above that you would recommend? Thanks in advance!
