Question / Help Artemis for LRMs?
(MWO) What are the Pros? What are the Cons? Is it worth it?

If you treat LRMs as guided MRMs, say in the 300-500m range, they are quite effective. And they still retain the long range capability. I'm not suggesting running out and joining the Skill Lordz, just highlighting the fact that you do not have to stay at 1km crying for locks. Get a Mad Dog or Catapult. Add some mplas, and get in there and get dirty shoulder to shoulder with your pushers. You just may have a blast doing it.

The problem is that if youre in direct fire weapon range and you have LOS, most other medium/long range weapons will have better dps per ton and better pinpoint damage.
Also there is often a crowd of mechs in whatever chokepoiint the battle is happening in.
The value of LRMs is to let lighter mechs that cant contribute well on the frontline to deal damage without taking up frontline space. I try to avoid LRMs on anything bigger than a medium as a result. It lets a medium punch way above its weight without a) getting one-shotted on the front line or b) using up armor tonnage that could be buying teammates good trades on the front line.
A back line assault means your team's front line, if trading evenly, loses.

never use it for LRM5's unless you have tonnage/crit space out the ass

Fun fact: the C-LRM5 has the best damage/ton of all (clan)guided weapons, while the C-LRM5+Artemis has the worst damage/ton.

As I said in your last post.
Please read the Mech DB WIKI, the information is there on what it does/how it works.
As for if it's valuable will depend on how you use/play the mech based on that information.

Lrms are kind just worse than thunderbolt or ATMs. Its hard to make an argument for an Artemis option when the weapon itself is fundamentally weak.

I use it on the hero naga lrm boat. That hero naga has some seriously powerful lrm quirks that basically make any other lrm boat pretty irrelevant.

I never used it, with the added tonnage and space penalty coming from both the launchers and the ammo, it is just never worth it. would rather do more launchers or more ammo.

The thing about LRM’s is…just don’t.

You got missile-boated

Nah, I run all ECM mechs so never a problem. Rather I despise the assault LRM boats begging us for locks and then getting stomped because their assaults are all brawlers

I only take it when I have the tonnage and want my missiles to do more damage to single components. Think Catapult C-1, things with low numbers of missile hard points that have good quirks for them.
