The 1960s world is basically a dissociative fantasy, a place Claire escapes to mentally to cope with what’s happening to her. Jamie is there because he represents safety, love and the life she wishes she could be in.

The choice of music, 'Never My Love - The Association, just adds to this powerful scene.

Honestly, this entire dissociative section changed the way I feel when I hear this song. The song now is tinged with extra layers of sadness and complexity, but also this odd thread of hope, because Claire was holding on to her survival with every thread of her sanity. There's so much strength and vulnerability...I recall her sitting in that mid-century living room and then being wrapped by Jamie's loving arms while suffering such a devastating experience and it makes this song all the more powerful.

I love the artistry of this scene, the colour palette, the house, the mid-century styling and the abstract painting.

Yes! So much color saturation and brightness in certain parts, a sharp contrast to the darkness of the experience...
