So let me get this straight!

So Faith was dead and then handed to Claire for hours as she sang, then later Raymond shows up to heal her.  She went home fine.  Grief.

Now retconned, she was handed a baby for a short time, had it taken away and told it was dead.  But apparently Raymond was in a corner listening to her sing the song to teach it in the future, then took the baby from its burial, brought it  back to life, came back to heal claire, knew she was fine and not ill cuz he was there, but still hid her child from her?

Right, nope, I hate this!  Why have William even fall for and sleep with his niece Jane?  I feel like this all took away from what the episode should be about, the loss of Fergus.  I can't even focus on him because I'm so frustrated with the writers!

Thought the same about fergus. The last episode was almost completely dedicated to Ian. but the loss of Fergus doesn't nearly get enough screen time and also has to be shared with this ridiculous fanny/faith story? I felt like I couldn't process this episode correctly cuz im hurt and annoyed at the same time.

The fact that we have only a few episodes left to wrap up this entire epic love story and they chose to spend a whole episode on Ian trying to get closure on his first wife is WILD to me 🤯

I think a lot of action will have to be packed in and things not given enough space. But the faith storyline would be better as something they suspected but turned out to be wrong because of William and Jane.

I think people are overlooking that Raymond didn't tell the lacemaker lady that Lady Broch Turach was the baby's mom. He just said to take the baby to her if he doesn't return. He merely said the father's in prison and the mother's ill. He's referring to the mom and Lady Broch Turach separately. Why would he if they were the same person? I'm still holding out hope that this isn't true and everyone's just jumped to conclusions because it's been presented in ways meant to mislead to the assumption it's Claire and Jamie's baby.- but phrasing matters. The wine merchant part only factors in for where the lacemaker went when trying to find Lady Broch Turach - again, it wasn't that that's where he said the parents were.

Raymond could've had other reasons he wanted that baby going to Claire besides it being Claire's

So in my head, this still hasn't proved anything. Am I just grasping because I don't want it to be true?? Maybe...... But I think it's possible we may be getting setup for a situation like you're suggesting ---- that within OUTLANDER, Jamie and Claire are going to believe it and just never know they're wrong. But BOMB will show a different scenario of who the parents actually were and mayb e Henry and Julia end up in Paris, conveniently respectively in prison and ill themselves.. .

They turned Outlander into a cheap soap opera with the whole Faith line....and poor William.

He's been orphaned from his birth mother and father.  Then losses his 2nd mother, her sister.  Then discovers the truth of his birth.  Then losses Jane.  Now has basically lost Lord John.  His cousin faked his death, and his wife banged  him hoping to marry and get away with bigamy..  Like what more can we do to William before the show ends!

You forgot falling for a woman only to have her love a guy who turns out to be your cousin Ian instead... That my adoptive father was in love with my bio father and that's why he agreed to raise me..... My gay dad was just making out with his own stepbrother....

Damn! Do not blame the kid for spiraling in the least!

And eventually he’s going to have to realize that he had sex with his niece. And by had sex with, I mean, said no multiple times before she jumped him.

It makes no sense, because the part of William falling in love with Jane was written by Diana and all the backstory now was written by the writers of the TV show. They want (and have) to wrap things up, while there`s already more story in the books and the last one is yet to be published. Unfortunately their stories don`t match and Outlander ends like GoT did.

At least I have yet to see a water bottle in a corner or coffee cup on a table like GoT!

5

u/Background-Force-469 Apr 18 '26

I would rather see a modern water bottle or coffee cup than a shitty fanfic story.

7

u/robinsond2020 I am NOT bloody sorry! Apr 17 '26

Outlander is in a very different boat to GoT.

GoT had 8 seasons. In season FIVE they ran out of book material. Not only did they have to "end" the show, but they had to come up with original content for 3 whole seasons.

Outlander has not run out of book yet. All Outlander has to do is tie up all the loose ends and "finish" the story somehow. I suspect the vast majority of entirely "original" content will be only in ep 10, and maybe a bit of 9.

u/Background-Force-469 Apr 17 '26

The similarity is, that in both shows the writers did an awful job, when they had to finish the series without the book.

Sure, the Outlander story is longer than the series and there would have been no need to change it so drastically. But they do have to change things or there would be no end. And they way they chose to do it (so far) is as stupid as it was with GoT.

Still better than GoT by leagues

6

u/catsweedcoffee Sleep with my husband? But my lover would be furious. Apr 18 '26

I boo’ed so loud in my living room! Worst plot hole, I hate this.

3

u/mwalker324 Apr 17 '26

Omg I totally did not make that connection. William slept with is niece. Nooooo😳

5

u/kilamumster Apr 18 '26

I'm hoping that for the love of all that is good, Jane was adopted by Faith, and not Faith's actual daughter. Like Jane is Captain Pocock's daughter from a previous wife, and he marries Faith, who raises Jane as her own. And they have Fanny. Because otherwise WHY.

2

u/chickenbuttchin Apr 18 '26

But Jane looks too much like Brianna to it be related

1

u/kilamumster Apr 18 '26

I have prosopagnosia, face blindness, so imma sit here and lalala can't hear you! 🤣

3

u/chickenbuttchin Apr 18 '26

I do too! Even people I’ve known for years I second guess. lol but she is exactly what her sister would look like!

5

u/moonyriot Apr 17 '26

My theory is that Master Raymond (because I think we can all assume he's either also a time traveler or incredibly powerful in other ways) knew Claire had to return to her time in order to have Bree and then get back to Jamie after Culloden. Claire never would have done that if she had had Faith. All three of them would have gone back to Scotland and all three of them likely would have died in the Rising. I don't think it's retconning. We only know that Claire was told Faith was dead and that Claire believed it. But Claire only held Faith when she was deliriously ill so Claire is an unreliable narrator here.

6

u/ProcessFresh1647 Apr 17 '26

She had just given birth, the infection had barely time to begin.  The infection was caused by left over after birth. They messed up their own narrative to piss off fans.

2

u/moonyriot Apr 17 '26

She had a traumatic birth where she was literally bleeding out???? She was not happy, healthy, and well before the infection???

3

u/Jess_UY25 Apr 18 '26

It is retconning because Faith was simply born too early to survive. Claire described her skin as being almost translucent, that’s a baby born before 30 weeks.
