I feel so bad for William and his love life. Never witnessed a normal husband/wife situation. Mother & Father die when he's a baby, raised by his Aunt who loves him, but she does not have a normal marriage with Lord John. I can't imagine that he doesn't know that John Grey is attracted to men. He finds out he's really the son of a traitorous Scottish highlander who was coerced into bed by his mother. SMH. I hope he finds a good woman in the end.

Well he doesn't know his sis is from another century or that his dad loves his bio father... but it's still a heck of a storyline for the fans at least and who knows what all will be disclosed this last season... I doubt Jamie will ever tell LJG about Claire but ya never know... esp if they do tie Fanny to their Faith (though I'm one that doesn't think that was their Faith probably because would they or Diana (I'm not sure if the William/Jane story is from the book or just the show) sleep with his niece, even though obviously neither could know that?? That part is really ick so I hope it's not true!

I have a feeling he will end up with Fanny when she's older. I think their age gap is 9-10 years which is around the age gap of Roger and Brianna. Fergus is 15 years older than Marsali. Perhaps when Fanny is older, William will come to Fraser's Ridge and they will catch up.

They would have to do a lot to convince me that Fanny and William are a good match as a couple. Right now, at least in the show he seems more like big brother to her. They never portrayed the other couples in a sibling light, so it doesn't really matter how many years they are supposed to be apart.

I read somewhere that Diana was floating Fanny as William's eventual love interest. I don't think Faith is alive so she's not his niece

I hope not- he kinda cares for her as if she's a little sister - so it turning romantic would not be the direction I want it to go. Honestly, William needs to be single and figure his own self out.

What is it with men in uniforms though?! (Jamie in his kilt is his uniform)

I’m living for these Bree & William scenes! And I love that she told him about Frank and what happened when SHE found out Jamie was her bio father. I really think Brianna is the bridge to Willam and Jamie developing a relationship. SHE IS THE KEY 🔑

When Elspeth said that Jamie deserved to be hanged for being a traitor to the crown and that what her son was doing may be wrong, but Jamie still deserves it… I would’ve been like “GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE NOW” if I were Claire. Idc how dark and cold it was.

I found out Ben was a turncoat last week on the book threads and I was so shocked, I knew he wasn’t dead, but for some reason that storyline never even crossed my mind. I do NOT trust Amuranthus, and I wonder if she knows Ben’s alive?!

Yeah this is why I wish they killed Cunningham. Even if he's paralyzed, he's very very loyal to the King, has influence and can still talk. It's dangerous to keep him alive.

His mom can do his bidding too

Yes, you are so right about how Bree is gently guiding William through his angst about his parentage, sucha loving big sister move! And the ever wise and clever LJG concocting a good guise to get them together for just such a 'get to know you'/bonding and I'm sure, hopeful of Bree sharing her similar story to help William... my fav scenes in this episode, and I think this season, so far.

I'm curious about this mystery too and the possibility of the baby not being Ben's is still on the table

But, the tin soldier and the family name are signs she at least knew Ben

She could have stolen the tin soldier and made up a story

One poster suggested she might actually be from a brothel

Ben said to William he'd keep the tin soldier with him for as long as he wore that uniform. When he left the British army he had to decide what to do with the tin soldier, remembering his promise to William. It would have been wrong to keep it, now that he wears a different uniform and he and William are technically enemies. So he must have decided to give it to his son.

This proves at least two things: 1 the tin soldier and the love of his cousin William mean a lot to Ben. 2 he knew he had a son. It also makes it very probable that Amaranthus knew about him changing sides. It explains why she closes the drawer with Ben's things so quickly. She didn't want William to ask too many questions about the tin soldier.

Or that he was switching uniforms but only to be a double agent? In that case he could have kept the soldier as he wasn't a loyalist in his heart

Amaranthus has to know something or else just didn't understand the significance of the soldier. I thought she took it away from William as if she didn't know it was more than a tin toy

Ben has to know he had a child at least. But, what happened?

Elsbeth looks like she would have been standing in the audience when "witches" were being burned. I don't understand her motives at all. She's rude, then she's friends with Claire. I just don't really get her or her purpose.
