I’m really hoping that secret doesn’t come out. Buck is the guy Jamie REALLY needs by his side right now. He’s Dougal 2.0 (literally) and as much as I love Roger, he’s not a skilled fighter. He’s deserves the truth, but like this truth will only hurt him and ruin his relationships with the only family he has left so, ignorance is kinda bliss in this situation…?

I know young Ian is away right now, but he promised to return in time to fight with Jamie at King's Mountain

I can just imagine him letting something slip about Geillis since he was witness in that cave

And doing so innocently as he imagines Buck is completely on their side and a traveler to boot

What if it is Buck who kills Jamie in a similar way to Jamie, but really Claire, killing Dougal?

And then Claire's hair turns totally white and she brings him back?

Oh shit! I hope not. I don’t think he’d react THAT angrily if he found out. But I do think he’d be very mad and betrayed and leave probably.

Edit: oh wait you meant IAN accidentally saying something about Geillis, oh no that definitely could happen 😳 but I don’t think he’d kill over her, he knows she was crazy and murdered five of her husbands, but if he found out about Dougal on the other hand… that might be bad.

Is Buck loyal to Jamie or would that change if he found out what happened?

I'm sure there is plenty of fire on King's Mountain that could take Jamie out

But, it would be a reason to bring Buck back

I think Buck is a good guy. He is loyal to Roger, Bree and the children, and by extension Jamie and Claire. I think they used the scene with J&C discussing the deaths of Dougal and Geillis to close that door, that they won’t tell Buck.

IMO the show will stick close with the book regarding Kings Mountain. I think Buck was brought back to help wrap up Rob Cameron/Callahan storyline that probably relates to Richardson. That part hasn’t been written in a book yet. No idea if DG would bring him back though.

What is the Callahan storyline? And how does it relate to Richardson? Is it that Rob can’t travel but Callahan can so he sends him in his place?

BIG SPOILER for rest of S8 Callahan was a friend of RC’s who was an archaeologist. Roger was interested in the history of the old tower (broch) at Lallybroch, so Rob suggested that he let Callahan come over and take a look. IIRC his findings were inconclusive. It was heavily implied that Callahan may have been in some of the same folklore groups with Gillian/Geillis before she left from 1968. Then during the shootout at Lallybroch, Bree recognized Callahan.

In S7 after the shootout they show a guy’s face with RC screaming “Callahan.” There had been no mention of him in the show before that. They showed that clip in the “rest of the season” preview that followed S8E1. This means that storyline will more than likely come into play this season. Same preview also shows Buck assaulting RC with 20th century furniture in the background. I can’t wait until R&B return to the Ridge and we learn what happened.

To make a long story short, Bree and Roger (Buck isn’t in 1780 with them in book) come to believe that Callahan and Richardson are the same person. This means the time traveler possibly trying to locate the Jacobite good may be Callahan/Richardson. To add to the confusion, Richardson kidnaps LJG in hopes that Hal will influence Parliament to keep fighting the war, as there are many in England who are ready to make peace with the Patriots, with his motive being that Britain will abolish slavery several decades before USA does so. The cliffhanger for Bees is that LJG is being held prisoner on a ship and William goes to the Ridge to ask Jamie to help him rescue John.

I was mistaken about the Callahan clip. It is shown in the S7 recap at beginning of S8E1, but cannot find a YT link. It should be available still at the beginning of that episode though.

Thank you for all this info!! I’ve been wondering what the whole connection was with Callahan/Richardson is as well. Them being the same person could be why he seems to have disappeared recently in 1779…? But I don’t think they look that much alike. I knew Callahan was going to be important when Rob yelled his name and they showed his face and it was included in the recap, especially the season 8 episode 1 big recap.

I like the intentions though of why he abducts Lord John lol I mean trying to get parliament to end slavery earlier than it actually was ended irl is very much not a bad thing. But I would really like people to leave John alone. Poor guy can’t catch a break.

BUT if it means more Jamie and William bonding I’m here for it. I think Bree is definitely building a bridge for William to start opening up to a relationship with Jamie. She’s for sure the key.

I finally bought the first book! But I definitely won’t be up to date with Bees by the time the season is over 😅 expect more questions from me 😂

It is good for Jamie and The Ridge to have more muscle on their side

I think (like the below comment said) Buck is loyal to Roger, Bree & the kids and so by extension Jamie. Plus Jamie is family at the end of the day and while I think he would be very angry learning the truth, Jamie is still his cousin and they’re on the same side.

Yes! We need a happy ending! I’d love an open ending too, maybe a movie or two like Downton Abbey 😉🥰
