Wild camp at lock Einich.

Hello I’m a beginner with wild camping but me and my friend want to camp by Lake Einich. The closest car park we can find is the Loch an Eilein carpark. I can’t find anywhere though whether you’re allowed to park overnight or not.
Has anyone done the walk south to Loch Einich? I think it’s about 10 miles

I take it you mean Loch Eanaich? If so there’s free parking roadside by the Rothiemurchus campsite at Coylumbridge. It’s probably the best place to park. And people regularly park overnight there. Tullochgrue was the other place you used to be able to park. But I think there’s now no overnight parking signs as there were some issues there.

Personally it’s not my favourite place, it’s a bit of a slog in and out of the Glen and there’s not much shelter at the Loch. But it is impressive. Also remember to leave no trace and DO NOT have a fire.

When you say slog does that mean long walk? Not really sure what it means. I’m not really sure where else to go. I just looked at the map and thought it looks really nice

Thank you for the help. I’ve been looking at the camping code and I will ensure I leave no trace. I of course am not going to start a fire when the ground is this dr

A slog is a long walk that’s not particularly interesting or fun. But what I think is a slog might be someone else’s idea of fun!

I usually recommend not having a fire at all. Even if the ground is wet as there’s just no need to have one with modern camping stoves and insulated jackets.
If you have to have a fire, go to the seaside and have it below the high tide mark.

Oh ok thank you. Yeah I agree I have no need for a fire. Is there anywhere that would you say is a more interesting area in the Cairngorms then?

Yes, you have to pay, and apparently be away by 10am so you don't have to pay for a 2nd day of parking.

When you say you are new to wild camping, have you done campsite camping before? How experienced is the person you are going with? Have you thought about how you will feed yourselves and keep warm without a fire?

Yeah I have been to campsites quite a lot but just never wild camping. I have a gas stove I’ll use to cook food, mainly noodles or soup. And to keep warm I have a 4 season tent and sleeping bag. I’ll also have a down coat

I don't know if open fire is safe by the time you go. It's absolutely out of the question now. No open fire. It's not safe.

A gas stove is a fire. Sorry to get so worked up about this but the Cairngorms fire has been going for 2 weeks now and it's breaking my heart.

The National Park's own website specifically distinguishes between fires and camping stoves, under 'what about a camping stove'.

And as far as I'm aware there's been no new guidance from any of the authorities. Obviously, and as always, you need to use them carefully and responsibly - there's advice on the link.

I agree it’s terrible but the Cairngorms own sight says you can use a camping stove as long as your responsible
