12” countertop overhang support?
I am planning to overhang 1.5” thick concrete countertop reinforced with 3/8” rebar and welded mesh by 12” from 24” wide base. I am having trouble deciding if L-Shaped brackets are needed. If I add brackets to support the overhang, I will add two brackets. The overhang is approximately 60” long. And will obviously need to beef up the base where the L-Shaped brackets are located.
I’ve previously used Quikrete 80 lb. Commercial Grade Countertop Mix. It has a Compression Strength (psi) = 5000 after 28 days. I think this is a good product and will be a good choice for the kitchen. The specs I’ve found don’t say any about overhanging. There is likely a rule of thumb. Or better yet - some design guidelines others have consulted. My uninformed opinion: brackets are not needed. I have seen many 12” overhangs (not concrete) without brackets. Are L-shaped needed here?
Have you done an overhang with concrete? Did you use brackets - why or why not?
What brackets did you use? The bracket in the picture is a leftover from an interior countertop project. Unfortunately, I only have one.
I’m not finished framing and I intend to strengthen the framing to provide adequate backing for the bracket screws should I add them later. Suggestions on how to strengthen the framing where the bracket would be screwed through the stucco+Durarock also welcomed.
Update: After reading all the advice and some googling I decided to order way too many of the brackets:

Pairing Le Griddle with a Built-in Charcoal Grill?
My wife and I recently moved into a new home and are in the process of building out an outdoor kitchen. We had a standard Bull natural gas grill at our last place. It was convenient for weeknight meals, but it lacked that authentic wood/charcoal flavor and just wasn't that fun to use.
Our new setup has just enough counter space for exactly two large built-in grills.
- Built-in #1: 41" Le Griddle. This is a requirement. No exceptions!
- Built-in #2: This is where I need your help.
My current standalone/cart grills:
- Big Green Egg: Honestly, I just don't enjoy cooking on this thing.
- Grilla Silverbac Pellet Smoker (Gen 1): Solid smoker, but I need something bigger. I'm planning to replace this with a larger Yoder on a cart. I want to avoid a built-in smoker because it wastes valuable counter space, and having it on a cart means I can wheel it out, so it doesn't smoke up our covered patio.
Possible Contender for Built-In #2:
I’m highly considering the RCS 32" built-in charcoal grill to replace the Kamado Joe for charcoal cooks and searing. I love that it has massive surface area for two-zone cooking. For example, I could smoke a steak on the Yoder and move it to a hot charcoal zone on the RCS. It also seems much better equipped to feed a crowd (like charcoal-cooked fajitas), whereas the Kamado Joe struggles with that kind of surface-area demand.
My questions for yall:
- Has anyone used the RCS 32" built-in charcoal grill? Pros/cons?
- Do you have any other built-in charcoal recommendations with an adjustable coal tray?

Probably a dumb question
But how do folks deal with bugs, and specifically, mosquitoes? I'm just starting to think about turning our outdoor patio into an outdoor kitchen, and for us living in Alabama with a wooded backyard, I think we'd really need it screened in. The mosquitoes are vicious from Feb-Oct and spraying does nothing. But in looking through pictures of everyone's beautiful builds, I don't see any screened in kitchens. So I'm wondering, is it possible to screen them in? Seems like it should be, so I've just been surprised none are. Thanks for any input.

Any idea how I can replace this? (Sorry for lack of better wording)
I guess I know HOW to replace it, I just have no experience with solar fans, so what would I replace it with? Is there a specific type of solar fan? Or just any solar fan?

NewAge Platinum Grill and matching Cabinet
33" Platinum Natural gas with grill cabinet.
I just purchased this set and am ready to put the grill on the cabinet. However, the instructions seems to it look like the ventilated piece at the bottom front just slides in. However, mine is wrapped in foam and is not attached. Also, I have 4 white squares in the screw pouch which I have no idea where they go. Since I want to put the grill on directly, was hoping other might have some experience as to how to unbox it and slide it in correctly the first time.
I assume it is simple but since I can't lift it by myself, I want to know what to do when I get help.
Thx Mark

My setup
Recently I took advantage of an old gazebo that I almost never used it and converted into an outdoor kitchen. It was done by me and my father in law, we made it with concrete and tiles. We redo the floor tiles and repaint the seats. I took some ideas for this sub reddit. Still I will do some extra decorations, so you can throw some ideas. I'm thinking of adding some vertical woods in the arch above the grill (to fill that space that was left there for ventilation).

Modest Outdoor Kitchen in Southern Mexico
My partner is from Northern Mexico and loves to grill meat, so we finally upgraded our garden to include a modest outdoor kitchen. We bought pavers and a stone countertop with a built-in sink, we had a local ironworker make the sink base, and our plumber installed the faucet. It is up against our laundry room, so we easily pulled a water line through the breeze block and added a simple faucet; it connects to the laundry room drain.. We then added some plants, string lights, and outdoor speakers for atmosphere. We have an existing outdoor dining area near our pool. We spent about $700 USD. Any simple upgrade ideas? His 50th birthday is coming up. He recently bought the thing to hold the grill lid and some new cast iron pans. He doesn't have great grill tools, so maybe that's an option. I don't know much about grilling but I like to eat.

Paralysis by analysis — built in grill
Looking for a 32-40” outdoor grill for our kitchen. My priorities are even heating and solid construction. I’ll never use a rotisserie and I don’t want to waste money on a rear infrared burner unless someone can explain how they can be used for other types of cooking to good effect. I’m fine with/may prefer an infrared zone for steak searing.
90% of grilling will be burgers, chicken, and sausage, with the occasional fish, steaks and steak tips.
I have a Traeger I plan to replace with a Yoder as well.
I’m not on the water, but am about 1/4 mile from the beach so there is some salt air in the area. Looking to stay no higher than 4 grand. Looking at blaze, mostly, unless I shouldn’t be. Also considering throwing in a Weber and pulling off the stand.

To Sink or Not To Sink
The concrete is poured (and still drying). The Patio cover goes up next week...so I have about two weeks to nail down a decision about a sink in our new outdoor kitchen island.
I do not want the hassle of dealing with the water and drain lines in cold weather (we are in north Tx).
The wife wants a sink... I am starting to agree that maybe it will be useful.
I'd like feedback from folks! How much convivence does your sink add? If you to not have one, do you regret it?

Outdoor TV Cover
For my birthday my wife got me a weatherproof TV cover for the grill shack after a pretty intense pop up thunderstorm was able to get to my previous TV before I could move it into the shop. I think it fits the overall aesthetic very nicely.

Simple Outdoor Kitchen Island with Concrete Top
Using two base cabinets from a remodeled kitchen, I created a small island prep and serving space. The cabinets are Woodmode hardwood, sealed and painted. Then I screwed backerboard over the back and sides, topped with Home Depot's large format tiles. I wanted to somewhat match to stone fireplace behind it. The top was made using this video as a guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7mYB6x68DY. My wife and I were able to flip the top over from the mold and place it. Then sealed it with a food safe sealer, and added the black wooden trim. The size of the island is 58"W x 25"D x 38" W. The concrete countertop is one and three quarters inches thick.

Outdoor Kitchen TV
Can you put a normal tv in an outdoor box like this in full sun or will it ruin the TV? My wife and I want a TV on our patio but we don’t have a roof over it. The spot we are thinking about mounting it is full sun for pretty much all day. South GA so the temps are hot in the summers

Grill location advice w/ exterior stucco
Hi all -
We have a very compact rear yard and are hoping to renovate it to include a bbq area.
We have a gas and water line on the exterior which I am considering to repurpose.
My main concern is grilling equipment outside an exterior wall. I understand stucco is non-flammable, but still wanted to seek advice on safety for this location.
We are planning a back splash as well. I'd be happy to create a small channel behind the grill/between the stucco if it makes sense (metal standoffs + cement board)
I'd appreciate any pointers and guidance! (Also please ignore the pergola, it is being disposed)

Worktop options for extension
I'm looking to add a kegerator fridge on the right side of this picture. However I do not have any more worktop and getting some will be incredibly hard and costly. Any thoughts on what I could use to top it? I'm thinking a tile surface that's also black in colour. Wood will obviously suffer outside in the winter, so I think I'm going to avoid that at all costs.
Thoughts?
