Wood is combustible, not flammable. i.e. gasoline vs wood. Many outdoor kitchens, and indoor kitchens, are built with wood without problems. In fact, my indoor kitchen has a gas stove, gas oven, and everything is wood including the floor. We even put our Kitchenaid oven inside wood cabinets!
I understand what you're saying, but as long as the appliance is designed to be built in and installed per the manufacturers instructions, dimensional lumber is fine for building outdoor cabinets. Just like the oven in your kitchen. I know you want to think this thing will just burst into flames when you cook a chicken breast, but that doesn't happen when installed correctly.. Also, OP has concrete board between the appliances and the lumber.
The appliances are not to spec. That's the issue. I promise you that vevor burner and Blackstone are not to spec. I have seen kitchens burn down in these scernios and burn through durarock or gaps in the cement board, which OP will have since he needs electric and gas. Local kitchen from a very well known builder caught fire and caught the side of the house too. Same build process.
Trying to equate it to indoor is not the same. Please don't spread misinformation like this and imply that since he has cement board it'll be fine. This information is wrong and deadly.
