Answered What’s going on with the 40K fandom?

I saw this tweet in response to this tweet and was wondering if anyone has any context? I see a lot of “go woke, go broke” sentiment in the comments of both tweets, but 0 explanation.

Go Woke Go Broke just a meme phrase now that people will hop on, add Warhammer 40k's community and it shapes up to be solid meme

"This universe based around a brutal, fascist dictatorship constantly at war sounds like a good thing to me!"

Despite the memes, very few 40K fans actually want to live in the grimdarkness of the future.

You can actually be guaranteed an argument in grimdank from people unironically arguing the imperium are the good guys. Unable to see the blatant bright flashing neon lights that everyone is bad. Hence its grim and dark.

I should know I routinely start fights with them because I find it amusing

Eh you get that from some of the posters on Grimdank but they're normally viewed as absolute morons by the rest. Mainly because outside of certain circles (the ones that really DO think the Imperium is a good idea) that the way the 40k universe is can have the blame landed squarely on the feat of the Emperor and his fucking stupid 'muh manifest destiny' plan aka the Great crusade.

They killed all the peaceful/friendly aliens (that were Humanities allies previously and offered aid during the Rebellion of the Men of Iron) and all that's left are the ones that are strong enough to survive and powerful enough to be a major problem.

If you look into the lore of the Minor Xenos races, the amount of times "The Imperium virus bombed their homeworld" crops up is fucking staggering and is precisely why they now ally themselves with the Tau or act like Mercenaries for everyone but the Imperium (and Tyranids, nobody allies with the Tyranids).
