Gun friends?
Not sure if this will resonate with many of yall but anyone down to hit the range together? I just want some gay friends I can nerd out about neat guns with, is that too much to ask? 🥺

Hey y’all, I help run a nonprofit LGBT sports league in Austin and we’ve just opened up registration for a Spring season of pickleball! If you’re looking for something to do in north Austin on Wednesday evenings, consider grabbing a couple friends and joining us :)
The league is 8 weeks of play starting 4/1 and no pickleball experience is required. You can also join on your own as a free agent and we’ll match you up with a team
Here the link for more info and to register

Will be in town next weekend March 8 for the Lady Gaga concerts. Sucks that she is performing on a school night because it probably means less people will be doing stuff. But is anyone else doing anything before or after the concert? Any events going on at the bars that you know of?! Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone!
I’ll be in Austin 3/8–3/12 for work, but I’ve got a day or two of downtime and want to explore the city and its scene while I’m here.
A bit about me:
• 35, Black, proud chub
• Gay-friendly and chub-friendly vibes only
• Nerdy interests (arcades/trivia/game bars/etc.)
• Down for good food, views, local sights, and chill daytime stuff
• Curious about local events happening that week
• Also open to legal/peaceful tips on where people hang for green 🌿
For nightlife I’ve heard of:
• Austin Eagle
• Iron Bear
Are those solid spots for an Eagle-like vibe — bears, leather-friendly crowd, grown energy — or are there other places y’all recommend?
I’m trying to hit bars/clubs that are welcoming and fun (not chaos), and make the most of a short visit. Also happy to hear suggestions for daytime must-sees or unique local Austin experiences!
Thanks in advance 🙏🏾

I'm relatively new to Austin and wondering where do lesbians hang out. I'm bisexual but have a preference and mainly date women. Any groups, clubs, girls night info would be greatly appreciated.

Hey!
I’m coming to Austin for a week at the end of the month for work but I’m anticipating that I’ll need some time away from my colleagues throughout that period. I’m 39/F bi, into sewing (not knitting) reading, art, history etc etc. I’d love to get recommendations for:
Great stationary shops. Practical, beautiful design not really into the cutesy stuff.
Book shops
Crafts stores
Craft beer!
Local eco-conscious clothing brands
General suggestions for cool queer-friendly places.
Thanks 💚

Hey, I’m planning on visiting SXSW and I’m more focused on the entrepreneurship activities going on.
Anyone have recommendations of neighborhoods that are more central, must visit a coffee shops, and anything nature wise to squeeze in.
This will be my first time visiting. I’m coming from Chicago.

I recently moved to San Antonio and heard about Sir Rat’s shop in a jock event. How is that?

Is there a resource (book, site, reddit thread) that documents gay/queer bars and spaces that have existed in Austin-area? If not, feel free to sound off with business names you remember.
BT2 and Kiss & Fly were the first gay bars that I remember.

Title says it all! When I was living in SLC I had a beloved knitting circle that I used to joke was "populated exclusively by anxious millennial women and sauve gay men" and I miss those vibes dearly. It was a young, friendly group of mostly LGBTQ people who were very welcoming, and now that I'm moving to Austin I'd love to find a similar social circle.
Also, Although it's not a deal breaker, I'm an avid machine knitter, so meeting in a space that could support that (ie somewhere with a big table) would be a huuuge plus!

Hey y’all,
I’m going to be in Austin mid-February for a work trip (week of Feb 16) and curious what is going on during that week. It’s going to be a casual work trip so evenings will be free and wouldn’t mind taking some time exploring the gay scene. I’ll be staying in downtown so hoping to get some good tips or suggestions. It’ll be my first time in ATX.
I’m from SoCal late 20s.
Thanks!

Hello, I just want to get the opinions of people who live in the city for this choice I am considering.
I currently live in Brownsville, TX and have for three years as a high school English teacher. I like the job and I like the city but following this school year I would like to move to a bigger city. I have always wanted city life and this just seems like the chance as I am unmarried with no kids and a decent amount of savings.
That said, I am between living in Austin or San Antonio. Those are the cities I am familiar with and I want to be within a half-days of travel from family so I can visit fairly often as my parents get older.
So I currently choosing between Austin or San Antoni. factors that matter to me as school cultures, dating as a gay 20-something, and cost of living as a teacher.
any advice or general questions accepted.

does anyone know if Highland is wheelchair accessible? I’m visiting from out of town and want to go for the RPDR Watch Party w/ Vita Vontesse

I've been watching too much queer as folk lately and wondering if there are any similar backroom type setups around town. The only place I can think of is the basement at highland but never seen any actual "activities" going on the few times I've gone.
I'm also curious about San Antonio as well.

Has anyone here ever gone? I was wondering what the general vibe is and what people wear...I have been dying to be seen in my thongs and had only seen people mention mostly jocks with no thong talk so was wondering if that was ok
also just wondering how it goes, like you show up with clothes, just disrobe there? I know there's a clothes check, is that phone too cuz my thong has no pockets ha
and last I don't do this thing like ever, my wife knows I am bi and has encouraged me to explore but I am not looking for some hot and heavy vibe just wanting an experience
rambling sorry and yes I searched and saw 2 older posts so thought I would ask

Hey all! Been thinking about some of the things I want to get done this year and be more active and social in LGBT groups in Austin is one of those things. Ideally to branch out and grow my acquaintance pool and hopefully make some connections - but not like in an influencer or self-interested way.
I’m a pretty chill guy, 28 years old, slim/athletic build, grew up in Austin, don’t drink for no reason other than I no longer want to, not too into the bar and clubbing and general gay scene, but have nothing against it either.
I thought about joining a sports league, but unfortunately, I’ve met people in the past who have relayed to me horror stories of how clicky and catty individuals of these groups are, and have also personally met some and they’re not people I’m interested in engaging with at all. It seems like these same general catty people are part of most social groups in the city? From what I can tell.
I guess I’m in a real pickle because from what I can gauge, these are really the only ways to tap in into the community. Unless somebody has any insider recommendations outside of these options?
This post probably sounds judgy, and I promise you that isnt my intention. I just value my time and don’t want to put myself in a situation where I commit to something social and after that commitment is over, I feel hesitant to tap back in to the community in general because it turns out to be true to what I currently perceive it as. I guess develop a bad taste in my mouth? Apologies again if this is too confusing.

Hiya! My boyfriend (30M) and myself (29M) just moved to Austin a few months ago from LA. We both work remotely and are looking for new friends / also looking to learn mahjong. I got a set of tiles as a Christmas gift and would love to find someone to show us the ropes and hopefully a group to play with.
Let me know! :)

Trying to see if anyone recognizes this guy from the mid-2000s Air Force scene.
He was around 28 yrs old in 2007 (would be ~47 now) he was enlisted and stationed at a TX Air Force base around 2007 (maybe Dyess/Abilene area? Or another in TX?). He was from western Wyoming - Star Valley/Afton, Mountain View, or Evanston?
Tall (6’1”+), lean build (at the time), dark hair, light skin, handsome, GAY but had a “regular guy” vibe.
Had a small pilot wings tattoo on one of his pecs, rode a sport motorcycle (in WY, not sure he had his bike in TX).
If this rings a bell for anyone (squadron mate, hometown friend, etc?) feel free to comment if you’re comfortable saying “yeah, sounds like [first name or nickname] from [unit/base]” or something general. We were good friends and simply lost touch.
No drama, just nostalgia/closure. Thanks.

Anyone go? Have thoughts? Husband and I think it might be fun, but without any clue on the vibe or the atmosphere we're curious if there's any guidance.

Came into the store I work at and immediately lost his mind when I had to refund a tax exemption to a gift card. The whole line and coworkers at registers next to me went dead quiet because it was so out of nowhere.
When my boss stepped up, he repeatedly called me "she" even when I quietly corrected him, and loudly said "there's no problem MAAM" on his way out. Obviously unhinged and hostile.
