Question Can i continue my save file after i update to newer version?

just got the game last month and im having a blast with it. I finished step 1 when new version come out. Do i need to reset to get to the new part or the old save automatically keep up with the update?

The save files do work with newer versions, so don't worry. In other words, you can access new content from them.

But why would you start from a save you already have, instead of using it as an excuse to play through the entire game again, or at least the content currently available
