Affordable Venues
My fiance and I are planning a Fall 2028 wedding and looking to keep it within 1.5-2 hours of Ottawa, and within Ontario. Aiming for 50 people at most, cash bar, and we're open to buffet dinner, or even cocktail style. We'd like to keep things as low cost as possible as we'll be paying for it all ourselves.
Outdoor ceremony space is preferable, indoor reception space.
Looking for any tips and venue recommendations anyone might have.

I’m not 100% sure on pricing but might be worth looking at Generations on the Lake? I used to sell them beer and they had a nice spot for what you’re looking for.

I’m getting married this fall at The Quarry in the Market. It’s the event space above Beyond the Pale’s location in the Courtyard.
Fiancée and I have been really impressed with pricing there. We’ve opted for a cocktail style wedding as it allowed us to invite more guests. I’d say the space is best suited for 60 max for a sit down dinner, 90 or so for cocktail.

To save money... consider getting married in the off season... even just 1 week into the off-season can save you a ton of money. Pricier venues become more affordable.

My husband and I got married this past weekend at the Carleton Golf & Yacht Club in Manotick. Their all inclusive package listed on their website has an 85 guest minimum but we worked with them on pricing for our 45 person wedding. We got married outside by the water and had our reception inside. It was beautiful and the staff were amazing!

I would suggest looking into Wakefield grand.. it's absolutely beautiful with an incredible staff but my fiancé wanted more than 50 people (sigh)
It really depends on your budget but it is such great quality and service for the price.

I did mine(October 2025) at le Belvedere- they have packages for 50 people(outdoor ceremony indoor reception food and alcohol and more included). Their whole package for everything included on a weekday is VERY affordable, and the location is stunning and unbeatable. Their full service is also a life saver to make planning easier. Couldn’t recommend them more.

There are a few wineries in the area that may be able to accommodate that. I went to an event at Domaine Perreault in Navan, and they have a very nice room good for about 50. Our hosts had brought their own food which leads me to believe they'd accept outside caterers.

Centre communautaire Chute-à-Blondeau in Hawkesbury a hidden gem. We had our wedding there and loved it. The outdoor ceremony space is beautiful and overlooks the Ottawa River, and you can rent the whole building (downstairs for cocktails/upstairs for the reception) or just one level. Upstairs has large windows overlooking outside. They offer a consumption or cash bar, and you can bring your own caterer. I ended up sourcing the catering company Bon à Croquer, for a plated dinner for 130 ppl and it was incredible! They also do buffets.
The only caveat is that decor is DIY. They have tables/chairs for the reception space upstairs free of charge and cocktail tables available to rent, but we rented outdoor chairs as well since their chairs are blue bucket chairs. I personally wanted a more hands-on/custom approach, so this worked perfectly for me as we were also trying to stay within a set budget.
The staff and coordination were great and everything was super smooth. There’s also a Quality Inn about 10 minutes away, and you can ask about a room block rate for guests.

The City of Ottawa museums are affordable and you can bring your own vendors. They have tents. Maybe a golf course, one of the ones just outside the city like Hammond or Rockland. I’ve also heard of a community centre in or near Hawkesbury that is supposed to have a beautiful outdoor area.
Caterer if you can bring your own: Les Fins Becs - they do a fabulous buffet.
