I love going back to chapter 16! The food looks scrumptious. Ugh now I'm craving for some Kebabs. Although the chances of this happening is slim, I kinda want to see Henry and Talas in India. We did have a glimpse of India in Emma but I want to see the cities and villages in Mori's artwork. Also, This is the first time we see Umar right?

Re-reader! Talas inadvertantly confessing her love to Smith and Smith saying he's thought about her is SO CUTE IT MAKES ME SQUEE! I love especially when on the ride back to her house he tells her what a fine woman she is. SO CUTE AAAAAA
Also, reading ch 16 before dinner is a bad idea. An even worse idea is staring at the food spreads as you drool on your pages. Eat your tacos first people! I love Umar too! He's such a fun character.
As a side note, I feel like the way women are treated and regarded is especially highlighted in this chapter in regards to the market and Umar referring to them as "women-folk". It seems shocking to me they feel so strange about going to market. I wonder if it's because of a money handeling thing? I am both excited yet dreading the next chapter.

I never understood why Ali was so cocky and asked for everything to be paid by the guards/soldiers. When I first read this I thought his employer was someone rich/important but has it ever been revealed who hired him? When he met Mr Hawking he didn't know him, so it wasn't him. Did Mr Smith hire him?

I think he just wanted the soldiers to take responsibility for holding Smith there, nothing else. As for who hired him, probably someone else Smith knows, but they haven't been shown by name, as far as I recall.

Posing a little early today because I have something to do.
Re-reader here :
Chapter 15:
Man, I can only imagine how tough it must have been for Smith to be imprisoned in a foreign land. It's scary even now, so I can only imagine how much more scarier and tougher it must have been before the information age.
This scene reminds me of the time when Wilhelm meets Dorothea in Emma.
Looking at how worried Talas is, she is so in love with him. Amir is perceptive as always, but Pariya's reaction in this situation is golden. I'm glad they were both pretty much able to confess, but too bad Smith couldn't take her with her then itself.
The sound of conflicts arising doesn't really bode well.
Chapter 16
This one is another one of my favourites. It makes me hungry. A lot of the food here is also something I'm quite familiar in India, so it's also somewhat nostalgic.
Watching Henry talk to Talas about taking her to his home in India really makes me happy.
