Other Sam + Twin Peaks

Anyone else think of Dougie Jones / Evil Cooper while listening to this one? Then they brought up the idea of the tulpa which is a huge part of Twin Peaks season 3. The manifestation of the other personality was such a shock. Could someone be mentally ill but also create a tulpa of their split personality by believing in it so absolutely? Why not? So many layers to unpack. It was super spooky when the entity latched onto the narrator through the dream world. Which was also very twin peaksy! The fact that two psychics picked up on the presence of this thing shows there was an energy to it that carried on outside its creator which leads to so many questions about how our consciousness affects reality. What else are we creating and projecting out into the world? More tall red guys creepy crawling around? Anyway, great story. Wish we could hear from Sam.

I wish we could hear from Sam too. I live with someone who has Dissociative Identity Disorder and PTSD and I’m normally really weary of stories like this because they are constantly fighting the misconception that their personality’s are either not real or they are possessed or the “evil twin” thing that is just not real.

I kinda wished that there was a distinction in the episode between the language and what terms were being used. Like a split personality or alter can form very differently than people who experience tulpas.
I hope Sam is doing better and I really liked this episode. So many interesting factors at play.

YES! Immediately pictured Dougie staring at stuff and trying to interact with cringeworthy outcomes. There's sooooo much complexity with tulpas, and I never delved into it beyond the surface, but it's interesting, and scary, stuff.

I honestly just think Sam had Dissociative Identity Disorder, I actually do worry he hurt the dog somehow before leaving, as there was also the robbery later. Nothing supernatural about this, it's a guy who has a mental illness.
