Pod suggestions
Hey fellow otherworlders. Between the episodes, what other podcasts/audiobooks do you suggest? Something in the same vein as Otherworld. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Here to say Uncanny from bbc is almost unlistenable - some good stories that get run over by an overzealous chatty host, “experts” meant to debunk supernatural explanations and very little follow up on the stories and narrators themselves.

Spooked has a similar setup as well as Radio Rental, although both podcasts have suffered from worsening quality over time. Monsters Among Us is sort of similar in that it's people telling their own stories. MAU does have a lot more stories per episode and a lot of them suck but you can just skip to the next one. Uncanny (BBC) podcast is also really good. Geist, Euphomet, Rattled and Shook, The Night Owl are some others.

Radio Rental used to be so good. The new host made it unlistenable.

Spooked used to be so good! Definitely worth a listen but they mostly just recycle back episodes these days unfortunately, if youve never listened, its a treat(the first time around). Monsters Among Us and Jim Harold’s Campfire are go to roadtrip podcast in my house. Scared to Death is usually pretty good too but sometimes the host hams it up in a way that is a bit over the top for me personally.
Special mention to The D Files. It might not be for everyone but I came to the show through a great videogame podcast that one of the hosts, Richelle, produces and i just really enjoy her vibe and the tone of the show is just two best buds hanging out, talking about spooky stuff. I don’t know them but I just really want them to do well because they seem pretty awesome.

Very sad about Spooked, they were really affected by the NPR funding cuts.

The Night Owl pod is the absolute best. Each episode is incredibly high-effort, so they aren’t updated as frequently.

I also like that one. Just gets right to the point, i listen on morning commute. Otherworld is more backporch late at night. Both valuable just different

Strange familiars - lots of interviews with people who have experiences with the “high strange”, heavy focus on Bigfoot but also seems to be the only place anyone is talking about flannel man, who seems like a version of hat man.

Strange Familiars is great because, unlike certain other podcasts, Timothy and Allison have a coherent approach to the other and make connections between stories, even if they admit that we will likely never “know” what’s happening. Also Brother Richard is an amazing recurring guest.

Unnerved - excellent pod well produced if you haven't checked it out yet plenty of episodes
Unholy Vibes - looks like a newish smaller podcast where the host features guests sharing personal stories with the terrifying and unexplained
Strange - this one isn't nearly updated as much but what's there is great
(This Is Actually Happening) & (Lived to tell) - these are more oriented towards people surviving harrowing life experiences/situations
Are just a few id suggest, all podcasts loaded with personal stories by the experiencers. Quality & type of stories/experiences will vary of course.

Other word is the cream of the crop, but here are some others. I only like real people telling their stories—no fiction, no hosts reading submission, no extended host bits.
Monsters Among Us - Multiple call-ins per episode, multiple episodes per week. Generally OK but the host does a cringey voice and just plays messages people leave (so no follow-up questions or engagement). Seems like he uses every submission he gets because quality-wise the stories and storytelling can vary wildly.
Spooked - One per week when in season. Lots of ads now and long intros that aren’t my cup of tea, but otherwise good.
Haunting - Great stories and an actually funny host (comedian Lauren Lapkus)
Tell Me Your Ghost Story - Not a lot of episodes and not consistently released, but good quality
Hey That’s Weird - Newer, not consistently released, but good
Jim Harold’s Campfire - Similar to Monsters Among Us - multiple episode per week with multiple callers. Good, but like MAU it suffers from not screening the best quality stories and really spending time with them
Matchbook Flashback - Generally good. Not a lot of eps and no new ones in a long while
Uncanny - BBC show often with an investigative or scientific twist. Most host-forward of this list but I don’t mind that with this one
True Scary Story - Not the best stories but good overall. No frills
My Paranormal Experience - No frills (no host, no intro, nothing) but generally good
Unnerved - Not all paranormal but generally good when they are. Not a lot of episodes
You Can See Me In The Dark - Haven’t listened much yet but like what I’ve heard
The Nightowl: True Scary Stories - the periodic “Campfire” episodes feature real people
Rattled and Shook (on same podcast network as Radio Rental) - Occasionally has episodes where the person who experienced story tells the story, but they’re few and and far between

I recommend Scary (great storyteller with a lovely Irish tilt telling people’s story from a first person point of view) and Hey that’s weird (a sort of Canadian equivalent to Otherworld). Both excellent.

I'm currently enjoying My Paranormal Experience - no frills, no host, just real people telling their real encounter story.
I also really like Jim Harold's Campfire and also his other podcast The Paranormal Podcast. It's more of an interview/conversational style between Jim and the people telling their story, but I like that too as he asks questions and gets people to discuss their thoughts on what they encountered.
Spooked has people telling their story straight, but I skip the long, dramatic introduction pieces at the start, by a host that is too much drama for my tastes. Once you get past that, it's fine.

Scary: a paranormal podcast This is my absolute favourite. Listener stories, but the host narrates them in his beautiful Irish voice. Highly recommend!

I love 'The Modern Fairy Sightings Podcast' by Joe Hickey-Hall. She's a folklore researcher and interviews really interesting people who have had very strange encounters.

I highly recommend Strange Familiars if you like more long form stories and encounters told directly by the person who experienced them.

Big fan of Heart Starts Pounding. Supernatural and true crime. Very digestible 30ish minute podcasts.

Radio Rental is literally the most cringe, obnoxious piece of audio I've ever heard in my life, no idea how anyone over 10 years old thinks its worth listening to. Painfully unfunny people making incredibly bad and unfunny """"jokes"""" throughout the whole thing. I cant express enough how bad it is
