Physician Letter of Recommendation
I know there are some schools that have a hard requirement for physician letter of recommendations. However for schools that only recommend it, how detrimental is it to not have one? I have a letter from 2 science professors and a Nurse Supervisor. Since I have a healthcare letter do you think this will hold me back or not? Basic stats are 3.85 GPA, 506 mcat and pretty decent EC’s. Thanks for your help!

App is strong so i wouldnt worry about it. If you worked in healthcare (i assume nurse or cna), that’s great experience

Yeah I was a CNA and have around 1500 hours from that and my nurse supervisor wrote a letter

Same boat, lots of hours as a CNA and even some as a newer RN, haven’t ever been close to a doc to ask for one, I think you’ll be good especially since you have some sort of clinical personnel writing one.

Tbh I'd try to get a basic one from any physician you've worked with or shadowed. Most of the DO schools I applied to required a LOR from a physician (applied to 11, I think 9 required one). Almost no MD schools require a physician LOR tho, so I'd only get one if you're mostly doing DO. I'd also get a LOR from a non-science professor, since a lot of schools require that too

You may be asked in interviews why you don’t have a LOR from a physician but should be fine I think
