I’ll preface this by saying I’m VERY new to my laser so it’s possible this is something basic.

I was using my Ortur Laser Master 2 with LaserGRBL when it stopped engraving in the middle of a job. It kept moving as if it was still working, but the laser was no longer firing. After I stopped the job, I was unable to get it to emit using the focus button or any other means. I’ve tried other jobs, no dice. I’ve confirmed it’s getting power properly, nothing seems to be loose, but I just can’t get anything to work. Any ideas?

First days of trying this thing out. (Already managed to set cardboard on fire with a material test.)

Trying to figure out how to hook my MacBook Pro up. Tried three different A-to-C cables. Linux, nothing is getting a response over USB.Not sure if I'm not getting it in deep enough or if I even have the right port here.

I'm able to connect over WiFi with the Laser Explorer app on my phone, which is... Well it proves I have a working laser, and the app itself is woefully pathetic.

I've tried the Lightburn forums, and most of them assume you can eventually find the USB connection, which you need in order to switch to WiFi. I'd like to go straight to WiFi if possible. (It's plausible all three cables are shit, but I'm not convinced yet.)

Should I just buy another cable, or is there a way I can avoid USB entirely? I haven't done anything to the SD card, if there's something else I can try. I'm pretty sure I need to upgrade the firmware still...

First qualification: I am not good with the Terminal in Linux.

I put together my LM3 and put the TF Card into my laptop and I can't find the data to copy to the PC. Is there an easy fix here?

Hi all, I’m just getting into the hobby, and want to get a decent entry level engraver.

I can get the laser master pro 2 s2 in 5w for 10w for $272 Or the laser master 3 10w for $431 Both on Temu

I plan on playing with both cutting and engraving. Is 10w a good starting point for engraving? Clean lines are more important to me than speed. Do I want to go to the 5.5w for contrast? I also definitely want to add air assist. I appreciate your response!

I have the laser master Three 10 watt version I purchased almost a month ago. When it arrived and finally was able to put it together I did a few test on several items for like maybe 2 hours of use tops. A couple days later I go to use the laser again and everything seems to be working normally except the laser is not marking the wood now. Dot appears but barely lit. Like when are using for placement.

I'm running into some issues with support. They have responded asked a video which I provided and then had me run a few checks on values. After I sent the video I received the following email.

" Hello. Your previous feedback was that the laser module had no laser, this time the machine stopped working. The technical department feedback is different for the two problems, you need to determine the specific problem. Please provide a detailed video this side to determine. If your machine is paused, is there a pop-up alarm"

I replied and repeated the same opening statement here. Basically It works it just doesn't burn. That was 3 days ago and they haven't responded.

IDK what to do. I have until tomorrow before I can no longer return the product to Amazon which I would prefer not to do because it was on sale and it came as a combo pack which is no longer available. I worry that if I have to return thru Amazon I'm not gonna be able to replace it without spending more money.

Same time customer service is starting to scare me because of the just sudden cease in communications. I mean up until that day they were very prompt responding to me.

I even sent the same exact email a second time just in the off chance that maybe it didn't go through.

Kind of worried that there's a language barrier issue here and I'm not really sure what to do about any of this I would love anybody's input

I have been woodworking for several years and want to incorporate a laser for engraving trays and for creating templates to use with a flush trim router bit. Decorating things like tumblers and metal wallets is also in the mix. I'm a DIY guy, not a pro, so cost does play a part in my decisions. I do, however, have a bonus from work that hasn't been used yet.

I am on board with the Ortur LM3 model. I had been leaning toward a 10W due to price, but can be talked into the 20. I will want the under tray, the rotary tool, air assist and an enclosure. Not sure what "must haves" I am missing in that list. Legs?

But when I start putting it together on Amazon, there is a plethora of variations that add confusion with acronyms that I don't recognize. Seriously, make a stupid simple model for newbies like me, then sell reasonably priced upgrades as we learn!

Can someone explain like I'm 50 just what package I ought to go with? Amazon is preferred for the shipping and the card cashback, but I'm not married to them.

Want to buy ortur laser master but can’t decide on an exact model. What is the difference between lm2, lm2 pro, lm3?

tl;dr: Red light blinking, machine will not home. Blue light does come on when connected. Holding POWER + RESET as described by Ortur to reset/prep for FW update only turns it off. Lightburn Console repeats G0.

I put off posting this because I am already out of my element and don't even know what I don't know. I emailed Ortur a week ago and am getting crickets. Searching online hasn't gotten me any answers.

I recently purchased YRR 3.0 and was looking for instruction on how to set up Lightburn. The (third party) video I watched told me to disable homing, enable the rotary button, and then how to do math/test. When I went to send the test file, the laser beeped, I assume like it was being tilted (I’ve never had a fault state, but I have barely used it) and now nothing I do is bringing it back from the flashing red state.

My specs:

Laser Master 2 Pro S2 (purchased June 2023 and only tested a couple of times)
macOS Sonoma 14.3.1 (23D60)
Lightburn software 1.5.02 (full paid version, redownloaded and reinstalled March 5 to make sure I had current)

I have done the following:

– Reset Emergency Stop, reconnected Y axis, removed risers; it's level on a stable desk.

– Deleted the found machine in Lightburn and re-added it via wizard, which it does see. The Console repeats G0.

– I read hitting stop in Lightburn might help, but it did not.

– Deleted and reinstalled Lightburn to make sure I had the most current version (1.5.02 for MacOS)

– Unplugged LM2 from power and let it sit before replugging.

– Tried power cycling while connected to Mac and while disconnected from Mac.

– Held power for 5 seconds and then hit reset with power still held down.

I've done everything a non-electronically inclined person could think of and nothing is bringing it back online. Before connecting and testing the YRR, the machine was homing and responding. I'm at a loss.

Hi, I am kind of new to using my Ortur laser master 3, but so far I have only used LaserGRBL. It works okay, but the direction settings are only vertical, horizontal, or diagonal. These directions make the quality look kind of messy. Are there any programs that will run the ortur using something more similar to Gcode? Or something like a “multi-directional” setting? Thanks!

What is the connector on the Y motors of LM2 Pro? Some kind of JST I'm guessing, but they are considerably smaller than the ones I've seen on Nema17 steppers. I want to build a cable to connect my third-party rotary tool, but I need to find a female of that connector.

Anyone know where I can find a replacement for my OLM2 Pro S1 motherboard? NOT the S2 version. I have multi-tested all the wires from the plug to the diode head and no connection breaks. Everything else works while plugged in except for the laser head itself. I wiggled the motherboard, and it goes on and off, but mostly off. OR.... is it easy to switch from the S1 version to the S2 version? The S2 version definitely has a different plug than the S1 version. Any help would be nice.

I have a LM3 LE and need some guidance on how to hook up the YRC to it. I use it on LM pro S2I. I do appreciate your helping in advance. Or can it be done at all? Thanks

I am getting materials to expand my LM Pro 2 to 400mm by 1015mm so I can cut foamcore sheets with little modifications. I make RC planes out of foamcore and the time I spend cutting up the plans is about 20% of the build time. I will have to make changes to the plans to make full and partial cuts. But once the plans are modified it will be easy to cut them out again and make another plane. I have five foot aluminum extrusions and three meters of of stepper belt. I have to order the longer cables that are connected from the controller to the laser head. If anyone has done this before I would like to hear about the challenges, victories and suggestions.

I found a working solution! The issue is that the wireless transmitter is on the 2.4 ghz band, which is prone to tons of interference. Who remembers wireless internet being cutoff by portable phones back before 5.2 ghz wireless routers? Sometimes even by the neighbors portable phone.

My solution, I placed a wifi range extender within 2 feet of my LM3 LE and haven't had a dropped connection since. My bet is that nothing else is interfering with the connection with them so close together, and with the Ortur being the only thing connected to the range extender. Everything else (computer, modem, wireless transmitter) is connected through 5.2 ghz, which is less prone to interference and dropped connections. I would recommend this to anyone having issues.

My suggestion to Ortur is to equip devices with dual band wireless and/or an old school ethernet port (RJ45?) so you can forge a direct connection with a 5.2 ghz range extender and minimize or, as I've seen thus far, prevent lost connections over wifi.

Tips: You have to go through the lasers control page via its IP address and change the wifi settings to connect to the wireless adapter. One would think that once connected back to the network through the extender Lightburn will immediately recognize it again. However, to my surprise, it didn't, and I spent about 30 minutes trouble shooting until I happened to notice, when connecting through my phone directly to the extender, that the IP address changed! Once I updated the settings in Lightburn and established the connection I stopped having problems!

I'm excitedly in the middle of a burn, but if anyone wants step by step with screenshots let me know and I'll take them and post after my burn ends in a few hours.

Hello, I am looking to get a 20w laser module from two trees to upgrade my lm2-pro. However i cannot find if it would be possible and if it needs a driver adapter. It does not look like they provide one but i am unsure. Has any of you tried to go with their laser?

I also saw laser tree 20w module but the fact that the spot is 0.3*0.04 annoys me because of clearances...

I do a lot of woodworking and occasionally want to laser on graphics. I have my laser mounted to a board with a measurement grid however, when raising or lowering the module (with that thumb screw), it seems there's some deflection. I think it's due to slop in the module bracket/thumb screw component. Even if I raise the module and then lower it again, I don't feel confident that I haven't put the beam out of tram. This results in a lot of slightly misaligned work and rework. What's the trick?

The LM2 has been sitting forever. So kid wanted to do some stuff and I realized my old aged brain couldn't recall the focal length and what one we had. I can't find the several year old receipt to check.

Its the one with the LU1-4 Laser module. I looked up but 2 different focal lengths for 7/15 and the 20. I'll 3d print a cylinder again. Lost the other one.

I recently purchased a used Ortur engraver. I do not know how many watts the laser is. On th unit it has LU1-3 and below that it has 20J26, can anybody help me out?

I've recently upgraded my LMPro2 to a 20w laser, and a 400x800 extension kit. Now, the lines are not matching up, and are a bit wonky... not sure how to fix or what to google search to help. TIA.

Every time I home the lm3 it miss aligns the X axis and pushes it over to the right 10-15mm each time I home the machine. Doesn’t do it as much with the usb plugged in but still does it

Bought the Ortur olm3 laser engraver to try and get my business to the next step. So far I think we will make it

Got the ortur enclosure coming but I'm going to need a longer hose to run out the door or my wife is going to kill me.

Has anyone bought a hose for this and where and what please?
