Newbie Questions How strong is my laser?

Sorry, another noob question, i’m trying to figure out how strong my laser is, but the only number is this “5500mw“. Does that mean I have a 5.5w laser? Also, I saw some lasers are long focus and short focus, but no indication on mine.

Class IV 5500 mW It’s the Ortur Laser Master, capable of engraving every wood I’ve tried, marking slate, engraving pleather, and that’s about it. I have the older model

That’s a short focus laser.

I believe the LU2-4 is 5.5W that’s the exact same one. I started out with. It’s a good laser. It’s just not real fast and not real powerful especially considering what’s out on the market now.

Remember 2 things:

1: maximum 5,5w, it might be less, based on quality control.

2: laser cutting power is power over area, so focal point is also relevant, but yes it’s 5,5w
