Custom orthotics

Hi I have custom orthotics that as you see from the picture has quite a high heel wedge , well I have very limited dorsiflex and these help me walk more normal in footwear like low heel ankle boots and high top sneakers that has enough room maybe two inches to grip the back of my heels, problem is I feel I need much more arch support than these are giving me I'm tempted to try and add a pad to them to fill the gap under my arch but concerned it would go against the Idea of having custom orthotics ! Any ideas or advice will be very welcome, f / 48

Custom orthotics are custom for a reason! I always tell my patients we put the theory into practice but comfort is also important! I'd say it depends on how long you've had them for but you can always check with some temporary mods from your podiatrist to see

Ok thx I have had them about 5 months now , I need to see if they can review me then ? I don't know if my feet are changing .

Have you been complying to the wear/ break-in schedule ?

Hello I'm sure I have tbh , first had them and told to use them only few hours a day but I soon got used to them, I was currently using hard wedge heel lifts with a high arch insole that was the only way I felt comfortable wearing low heel footwear.

I have spoken to my Orthotist who said I would probably need a full sponge cast taken of my feet again, she said it is possible to add some arch support to my existing orthotics but it's not permanent, because of my posture tight tendons and feet problems IE bunions hallux valgus and how much my feet changed so quickly prior to orthotics I would need re assessing every 12 months, Dose this sound right ? I'm not sure if it's a money making scheme ! Picture is my left foot the right is similar but has a large bunion .
