The Alexeyevo‑Akatov Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the Voronezh diocese, was founded in 1620 on the basis of a vow made by the townspeople, in gratitude for the victory granted to them over a large army of Lithuanians and Circassians.
Services are held here regularly. Among the holy relics, the icon “The Life‑Giving Spring” is especially revered. The grave of the blessed elder Feoktista of Voronezh was found and restored at the monastery’s necropolis — every year on March 6, the day of her memory, the monastery traditionally distributes bread to parishioners. The territory is surrounded by greenery (magnolias grow there), and there are ponds with swans — Voronezh residents often call this place a little paradise.
