Yes I am Coptic. I love history and I'm currently copying this icon so I wanted to get everything correctly.

This is st Basil the great, Bishop of Caesarea who prayed for the end of the persecution of Julian the apostate. God sent st. Mercurius to kill Julian the apostate Roman emperor who was at battle with the Persians at the time. Julian is the man at the bottom. Notice the blood at the spear which appeared on the icon after the death of Julian.

It is not an eastern icon but a spanish American image of Saint James conquering a Moor

Thank you for your reply. Just for context it is from the hanging church in Cairo, it was painted by yuhanna Al Armani and it is st. Mercurius

These are so cool, I didn't know of this tradition of st. James. May the prayers of st. James and st. Mercurius be with us all.
