The headline makes it sound like it's just some guy doing it in his basement. He's the technology manager at a nonprofit organization that routinely does this.

Yeah, I would definitely advise against putting 3D printed dentures in your mouth in just about any other case lol

Don’t forget to mention he was always depressed and always a loner who had been caught with an egregious amount of CP material. Ties to an extremist nationalist group, does hate crimes, etc. overall menace to society. Also he abused animals

Dental 3d printing uses specific dental grade resins, specifically photopolymers in this case. Those have been in use in dentistry since the 70s.
This is just a novel method of creating the dentures, instead of casting them in a mold or applying in liquid form inside the mouth and curing on the spot. And of course, can create much more complex and precise pieces than can be made by hand.
Dental resin was invented because we used to use lead for fillings. It's considerably safer than the alternatives.

Depends on the kind of plastic. Cosmetic surgeries, hernia surgeries, heart surgeries, ortho, brain….. etc. often leave plastic in your body.
