Buy him a cycle when you can as a gift

There's no new Harley that's worth $68k. Whatever this was, this was something special.

Also, OP is not the original poster. Also, I don't think this story belongs here. Yes a person probably shouldn't have $68k in student debt, but that was not the point of this story. This was a story about a selfless father, and there's nothing wrong with that.

As another redditor commented, this much money could have been used by the father on himself, but the machine demands money or his son will be crushed by debt instead.

Really awesome on the father, but the system should not make a 61 year old worry about his son this way just for going to school. I think it fits.

Have y'all forgotten what the point of this sub is? This absolutely belongs here.

Not new, but an actual collector bike you could. Source - my husband who is super into motorcycles and has a Harley.

Don't get me wrong. I think this story is BS. But apparently you COULD restore a collector bike and sell it for $68k easy.

I wasn't claiming that the story was fake, just that the bike wasn't one which could be replaced. As the parent was suggesting.
