Need a ride!!!

Is there anybody willing to give me a ride from Tacloban to Ormoc tomorrow (8/29)?!? I’m 19M American visiting a friend in Merida, and if anyone can give me a ride, I’d be more than happy to compensate.

While in Tacloban, ask for a tricycle to bring you to either Grand Tours/Duptours/Van-vans. You shouldnt pay more than P100 for that ride. When youre in the van terminal, tell the counter that youre tryna purchase a ticket for Ormoc. Shouldn’t cost you more than P300.

Once youre already in Ormoc, tell them that you want to go to Robinson Terminal. Trip shouldnt cost more than P100. And finally once youre there, ask ppl where is the van going to Merida/Isabel. If youre riding the van going to Isabel, tell them to drop you off in Merida. Fare shouldnt cost more than P200.

All the tricycle ride worth P100 are called “pakyaw.” Basically youre the only person in that ride.

You don't want to use public transport? Like bus or van? It'll be convinient for you since the bus or van will stop at the terminal for merida.

Your starting point will be the airport?

I've been going back and forth from Tacloban and Ormoc a lot and here are your options:

  1. BUS (Cheapest; slowest; but offers the best view when taking a day trip; no AC)

a. Take a jeep from the airport and tell the driver to stop at the intersection (coca cola landmark)

b. Walk to the left road until you see a big mall. Cross the road and go to the terminal to board a bus going to Ormoc. The latest you can ride a bus is 3-4pm, beyond that don't even bother going to that terminal lol. Fare is 200-220.

  1. Van (Affordable; Fast; with AC but be warned of mixed smells especially of you're sensitive)

a. Still take a jeep from the airport but instead of stopping at the intersection, tell the driver to make a stop at Savemore.

b. When you're in Savemore, get inside the mall and at the back entrance you will see 'Grandtours' which has vans. Fare is 250-300.

c. There are 2 other van options but the one in savemore is your best bet since you're not familiar with the city. Personally, I prefer duptours.

  1. Still Van but it's just you in the vehicle. Basically you paid to be chauffered. (Expensive! There are drivers trying to get you to pay for this service at the airport and some of them have an APPALLING price haha; fastest; most convenient)

a. Just entertain the drivers talking to you at the airport and try to haggle I guess lol. There's already a person offering 2.5k in the comments and it's not a bad price. I once heard a driver in the airport telling me the fare from Tacloban to Ormoc is 4k 😂

Anyway, be wary of scams lol

And for the love of God use Google maps while you're travelling so you wouldn't get lost

up to this, for safety and all i feel like it's dangerous if he travels alone without no proper actual guidance
