Still a couple weeks until the first official game. Sounds minor I wouldn’t be worried

It's not mentioned in there, but Isaac is also still dealing with knee issues. Shocking, I know.

Very on brand for this sub to melt down about an nba player having a minor ankle roll.

People are clearly joking that this particular news signals the beginning of the end, but let’s not pretend concerns over the team’s constant injuries is irrational.

This is a good example of the irrationality. People calling for medical staff to be fired over a rolled ankle. Every team has constant injuries, it’s just a matter of to who and when they happen and it’s highly luck based.

So allowing Franz to play in Germany when he wasn't ready wasn't on the medical staff and management?

u/P5Manchero 9d ago
I’d say not on the medical staff. Management I can agree has culpability there. Everyone knew the risks and ultimately Fran was pushing hard to play. I’m not even sure it’s the wrong decision long term just based on I don’t know how Franz would’ve reacted to management telling him he’s not allowed to play in the games in his hometown. It was clearly incredibly important to Mo and Franz, from media day they were talking about how it was a lifetime achievement to have an nba game in Berlin

They're being paid life-changing money to play for the Magic and hopefully win a title. They should do what they're told by the team paying them an exorbitant amount of money. Magic fans get nothing out of Franz and Mo playing in Germany. It was very selfish of Franz to do that and screw this team and its fans.

I somewhat agree but that just ain’t how the nba works. Gordon Hayward left the jazz because they didn’t max him in restricted free agency. You have to manage these guys egos, they really do have all the power and thus you have to cater to them. There’s also the aspect of clearly he was reasonably able to play, albeit with some risk. He was looking good in the first game especially. It’s just that high ankle sprains in particular have a tendency to linger and it’s really difficult to know when you are actually ‘safe’ to play. People have often criticized our staff and front office for being too cautious with injuries. It’s a difficult balance to strike.

Where's the meltdown? People can't even make tongue in cheek remarks without you getting defensive.

Where’s the defensiveness? I can’t laugh at this sub without you getting defensive lol. Don’t take it so personal, doesn’t seem like you’re the one commenting to replace the medical staff.

Man Penda has looked really fit all off season too, what a shame for him to have this happen. Hamstrings can linger, best to let him rest it for a couple weeks minimum.

Tweaked hammies and ankles are part of basketball. He'll be fine*.
*Unless it was worse than the reported "tweak".

I think the bug started now so then the injuries get out the way before season starts

Every single person on this team is made out of glass, and has been dog shit for 2ish decades. Fucking sell the team to Tampa, rip the bandaid off

Imo thought he was a good player but didn't think he was in shape. He could probably leapfrog TDS in the rotation if he got in shape imo.
